I'm not a preacher, but Iike to pull out all of my different study Bibles, lay them all out, and see what each says about the gospel reading for the next upcoming Sunday. I have about 17 or 18 kinds and this is one of them. And, I have a good table to open them all up at once to go through each and see what they open up about God's word.

I have to agree with you that this is an amazing Study Bible! I purchased the NRSV Translation, and was not at all disappointed. I waited a long time to get this Study Bible because I did not want another NIV Translation or NKJV Translation. I highly recommend this Study Bible ❤

I don't know if it's possible to have a Study Bible that does everything you want it to do. I think that's why it's a good idea to have more than one. I'm hoping to get a Cultural Background Study Bible this year for Christmas. It doesn't matter to me which translation. I'd like to know more about what life was like back in Bible times. What did they do for fun? What kind of games did people play? What was the music like back then. As a music fan, I bet that would be really interesting. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas.

I'm renewing my faith and I have ordered a NRSV bible and a NIV Cultural Study Bible. I'm wondering if it would be more beneficial for me to order a NRSV Cultural Study Bible? The church that I am joining uses the NRSV bible. Thank you.

Since Craig Keener and J. Walton are the Authors of this Cultural Backgrounds SB and also of the IVP Bible Background Commentary as well,.....If i already have the IVP Commentary ....that means that I already have all of the study notes that are in the Cultural Backgrounds SB? ........whats the difference of having both?...is worth the money if i also buy the Study Bible??

Thank you so much. This is now on my “to get” list (which is growing!🤣). I love the idea of a study Bible free from Calvinist vs Arminian commentary. Thank you also for mentioning the NKJV is not in the comfort print. This means I’ll go for the NRSV. 😊

I’d guess the NIV is also in ComfortPrint. I was shocked the NKJ wasn’t updated.

Do you think it's better to get this Bible in bonded leather or the hardcover

Bonded leather has gilding. Personally it doesn’t matter at all. Go with the better price.

Is the paper the same between the hardback copies and the bonded leather? I am wanting to get one, but the paper in the the hardback copies at my local store feels cheap, almost like newspaper, and I saw some QC problems with the printing. I was hoping spending a bit more for an older copy with imitation or bonded leather might get me a better quality.

The commentary font is smaller than the actual text. I’m guessing a 7.

I have the NKJV study Bible. Should I get the NKJV version of the Cultural Backgrounds (so that they "match") or should I get the NIV version of the Cultural Backgrounds so that I have another translation perspective in addition to the other features? The NKJV is much closer to a 'word for word' translation than the NIV, so I am inclined to go with it. (It appears that the NRSV version is not available at this time) Your opinion would be appreciated.

They really went for the two opposite poles I see. NKJV and NRSV... Then there is the NIV, which no one likes.
@anickelsworthbiblereviews10 күн бұрын
There is also an NIV.

@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Isn't the NIV highly erroneous? I saw a long list of discrepancies listed somewhere. NKJV is for those who believe in the Textus Receptus, but I doubt they will ever be happy with anything but the 1611 KJV. As far as I know, all of them eventually give up the NKJV. Meanwhile the NRSV takes things to too extreme. They are replacing classical bias with modern bias. Why can't they explain the contexts of the pronouns and phrases in the notes and keep the translation itself literal?
