I ha e often wondered that too. At the same time, I alse felt I had been an old man in the mountains of china who lived in a small village and was a basket weaver. I feel like if I ever found the village, I would know my way around. Who knows, I may just have a very vivid imagination. A very good documentary on occultism. A detailed history explaining what has happened in the past and who played active role and what happened to them and so on. There are many mysteries that we could not solve or find answer to them. One such mystery is 'death'. Yes we have no scientific proof to say definitely as to what happens to us after our death. Each religion has its own explanation as to what happens to us after our death. Egyptian thought gives us a picture similar to many cultures like that of buddist and Hindu and some more civilizations. The point is same that is bad activities will be punished and good activities will be rewarded after our death. All idealogies say the same thing but we are not accepting them. Materialistic view and scientific temper or scientific outlook has created such an illusion that we are not ready to accept the versions given by Egyptian civilization and other cultures inspite of giving the same picture. Like 'death' there are many topics that are most important to us but we have no answer to them. This is a mystery. Next important topic is 'life'. Animals also have a mind to think but they don't speak to human beings in a clear term or in clear words on'life'. The reason as to why they don't express anything on this important topic 'life' is simple. They know that Such things such as 'life' cannot be understood by all equally in the same sense or meaning. For example, If we show a ball to all people around us and ask them what it is , then all will say that it is a ball. But if we ask people what the 'life' is then each one will give a different answer. Some say don't ask such silly questions because 'life' is nothing but living. Eating and sleeping and working for earning and in free time do recreation activities of all kinds which we may like. That is 'life' many people tell. But if we ask animals or birds or trees as to what the 'life' is they don't answer because the answer they give may not be acceptable to us. Great question - he did many great things that helped explore the psyche and to reduce the suffering of those with serious trauma and MH. It's a great shame his teachings have been abandoned in wider psychiatry. As for him being depressed, this allowed Jung to explore his own shadow and to leave a path of self healing for others.
