It's funny after following and watching a bunch of narrowboat videos, to see a wide-beam boat, and think "Gawd, that looks as wide as a cruise ship. Think of all that space!". Have a great weekend!

Good to see you Lorna and that you are feeling better. This is like Victorian times where they sent people away to take fresh air. Of course London was dirtier in those days but I am sure there are benefits to getting out of the centre. Not one Lorna Jane boating adventures goes by without you saying "I love that boat". Don't ever win the lotto. You will spend it all buying 35 boats plus a marina to moor them! I too did like the tiny boat, with the even tinier boat which I guess is their floating shed!

A great vblog. My favourite boat would be a 32ft Norman centre cockpit yoghurt pot, as my avatar. Another favourite would be a Halcion 27 sailing boat, but not on the cut 😁.

Lovely - thanks for not editing out the GRP boats like a lot of vlogs do! I grew up with a GRP boat (Norman 32) and really miss seeing them. Thumbs up as usual.

The rifle factory went from Enfield all the way down to Waltham Abbey. Fascinating place to visit. They even lay on a mini bus to tour the site and I understand you can either buy or bring a picnic. I went in a group and included in the cost was refreshments. They even have a small cinema which you normally watch a short film at the end. Great day out imo. Enjoyed your video as usual 👍

@@billy4072 The original buildings and land still there. Also a museum with all the artefacts, military guns etc... and fascinating about the torpedo bouncing bomb actually invented there and was portrayed in the dam busters film - all top secret at the time . Hopefully it has or will have, preservation order or similar soon. I know not a nice subject but it's history and I enjoy being educated 😉

"Broad Bean" broad beam boat at 7:34, there really is an actual bean named broad bean, here, from a BBC wewbpage, "A member of the legume family, broad beans are pretty hardy and adaptable - they grow in most soils and climates. They’re a great source of protein and carbohydrates, as well as vitamins A, B1 and B2. In the US, they’re known as fava beans."

Why is it that all the narrowboats are brightly painted and clean while the other boat types look as if ready for salvage? Glad to see you enjoying yourself again and hope to see more of you boating although, the camping and hiking vids are still entertaining.
@lornajaneadventures3 жыл бұрын
GRP cruisers generally have a lower value and often are bought by people with a smaller budget, so there’s less money for cosmetics. And most London boaters only do it for a couple of years, so again cosmetic stuff takes less priority over engines and accommodation. There are plenty of scruffy narrowboats too
@MrSheckstr3 жыл бұрын
@@lornajaneadventures it’s also possible it comes down to what material the visible surfaces are made of. From what I’ve been able to glean just from watching KZbin videos narrowboat owners that focus on keeping up appearances are constantly refreshing the paint on their boat because nicks and dings show up so easily on its surface AND that surface is relatively easy to paint compared to fiberglass (your yogurt tubs) minor scuff don’t show up as easily, but unfortunately the entire surface dulls easily and cosmetic refurbishment isn’t as easy because it doesn’t take kindly to amateurish attempts. It’s the difference between polishing white and black leather shoes. Black leather takes a lot more abuse and recovers with less effort while white leather scuffs if you look at it funny

You looked pouty, frowzy and wet in this video, but you were actually quite ecstatic messing about in boats. From your narration we could tell that after a year plus of virtual inactivity you're chomping at the bit to begin more nautical and vanny adventures!
