Nobody can become financially successful overnight. They put in background work but we tend to see the finished part. Fear is a dangerous component, hindering us from taking the bold steps we need in other to reach our goals.

I think it's not always about fear, Sometimes realistic factors discourage people from reaching their goals in life. For instance, I've tried investing in the stock market several times but always got discouraged by fluctuations of stock value

@@BrunoLuke This is the problem! Most times people with little or no knowledge of the stock market try investing by themselves. It once happened to me, then I learned my lesson and contacted a US-based finance consultant by name MARTHA ALONSO HARA and everything changed. I started enjoying huge returns from my investment.

What a gift to hear my father, Ed Stalling (Iwo Jima landing), mentioned at 1:41:50! Out of the blue and old friend sends me this and says "my jaw dropped when I heard your father mentioned". Thanks Rich and Rich. Rich Diviney, I've sent this to my siblings and Ed's grandchildren so they can hear your comments about our father, grandfather. If you want, I have detailed audio interviews (now digital) I did with dad about Iwo Jima and his experience, I'be be happy to email them to you. Thanks for making my day so special, brought tears to my eyes, a real gift. Thank YOU for your service and this good work you are doing on leadership. Ed Stalling, Jr

I know Americans love to glorify their military, but as an ex-infantry soldier, there really is very little from military training that can serve as a positive template in civilian life. As the guest mentions, a large percentage of ex-military are broken human beings after their service - both mentally and physically - and the training is a big part of that. Turning people into goal obsessed robots is entirely oppositional to living a happy and sustainable life. The further I overcome from the brainwashing I endured in the military, the happier I have become.

Was discussing this with boyfriend recently. He wants our son to go into the military because of the free health care and paying for college and teaching him discipline. I’m torn because I’ve always thought going into the military was a good thing but my ex served for a long time and when I met him he was 33, never been married, no kids, had tried to commit suicide, was depressed, an alcoholic, as well as dealing with the physical problems. Wouldn’t say he’s a happy guy. Though it’s been three years since we spoke and I hope he’s found happiness. But honestly this loser Didn’t even have a job the whole time we were together because he got plenty of va money to never work again. I was in love with him (me being sooo young and stupid) but he seemed to not be able to know how to love because his heart was hardened. I feel like the military ruined his life. Hands down the most traumatic and dysfunctional relationship I’ve been in too because of his baggage and his inability to feel things “normally”. Idk it’s hard to explain how he acted around me. Emotionless is the first word that I would use. He also had to deal with knowing he killed 5 (probably innocent) people for maybe no good purpose or the greater good. Lots of people think the war with Iraq should have never happened and if that’s true people like him wasted his life for nothing and ruined his life for nothing. My son is only a baby and who knows if him going into the military will ever come up but I don’t know if I could whole heartedly support him.

I have a sisters nephew who I babysat all through his childhood and he’s more like my cousin was a Navy Seal. Jacob Morrell from Vacaville CA! So I know they’re very normal people! Hahaha He’s a great man and the Seals really helped shape him into a better man today! Thank you for having the best guests on here! Especially during this time we need to learn these skills! Every person should work on this. It fascinates me and I’m slow but working on them and it works! Imagine that?! LOL It takes constant effort and forgiveness. Because I fall still! 1:55:13. ❤ Definition. Open-mindedness is the willingness to search actively for evidence against one's favored beliefs, plans, or goals, and to weigh such evidence fairly when it is available. Being open-minded does not imply that one is indecisive, wishy-washy, or incapable of thinking for one's self.

I am friends with people who are on the right and in the left, and I don't discriminate or make a moral judgement on someone based on political orientation. My political position is that legally bribing politicians with party donations and cushy retirement jobs needs to stop, and it is something both sides can agree on. I think its fair that Rich Roll just wants to talk to people in his tribe though, since its his podcast.

In my opinion, Endurance mental toughness and drive are not all that is being teased out in the process of elimination during seal training and hell week, from all that I have gathered it is also testing the body physically and weeding out the weaker, unhealthy and persons not in top physical fitness. If you have poor health to begin with, your body will not allow you to finish, this extreme tests are only possible to pass for candidates with fairly perfect health, and that is beyond the control of people who are not perfectly genetically well.

I enjoy this podcast usually, but this conversation had a dark undertone to it, that was not succesfully adressed. Lets be frank, optimizing your performance and molding your personality in order to succesfully kill targets (humans) and to survive in extreme and violent situations, is not the type of leadership that should be implemented in labor relations that are already defined by hierarchy between the employer and employees and unrealistical excpectations on the efficiency of the workforce.
