😍 A BEAUTIFUL AMPHITHEATRE IN BATH? 😍
Apollodorus Architecture proposed a more fitting, beautiful alternative for the Bath rugby stadium at Bath Recreational Field. Inspired by the Roman heritage of Bath, it will offer the city so much more than the current, Modernist designs.

Been wishing for years that a stadium would be built in a traditional/classical style in the United States. Somebody needs to get the ball rolling and maybe others will catch on.

Same here, some newer baseball fields have some historic architecture, but they are not shaped correctly for an amphitheater... it would be amazing to do a football stadium that way, unfortunately most of those built in the US are out in the boonies, away from an urban area. Seahawks/Sounders Stadium in Seattle is downtown... but built in semi modernist style, a real missed opportunity, even though it's not terrible as far as modern stadiums go.

@@daveweiss5647 I don't believe you need to be surrounded by like buildings or be in the city at all, for that matter, to build a beautiful building. Though it is best to build something complimentary, the alternative in this case would be to just build another bland or ugly modernist structure. Why not build something beautiful for everyone to enjoy for years to come regardless of the surroundings and perhaps someday the buildings around will change for the better.

@@ThreeRunHomer I guess I've seen those, but they seem to not take it far enough, in my opinion. They still seem a bit too modernist still, too simple. But I am just picky, have high standards and expectations.

I really hope the proposal goes through. I'm sure both residents and visitors of Bath would really like it. I certainly do. It makes 10x more sense than any modern looking proposal. It also pays homage to the cities Roman and neo-classical history!

if the city council had any balls it would. however, modern architects like to appeal to people's egos, they will assure a city council that a building whose costs will inevitably balloon and whose form resembles that of a haemorrhoid will make Bath stand out somehow and make the names of the city councillors great - of course it wont and will be a source of much ridicule, but it will earn that twisted architect some prizes from his equally pretentious friends and lots of money.

I am not very optimistic. The more people see this video and others about it (check the description), the bigger the chance that something might happen. The current course is for a stadium that makes the current, temporary problems more permanent 😥

Usually, the clients are not willing to pay the amount of money it would require to recreate/blend in a building/structure into a historical setting.

And how fitting is that?! Who would have thought that an oval/circular building dedicated to sports activities could actually work?! I've definitely NEVER seen that in history before! 😋 Sometimes the simplest and most intuitive solutions are the best. Sometimes you really don't have to re-invent the wheel.

Amphiteatre style stadium? Well well well, I don't think such ones were builded in last century, ah wait, there was this one made by III german reich, heh, it seems that even from something as bad, something good can remain, germany have now pretty beautifull stadium at least.
