Great honest review 👍 I also watched your review of the Pecsu 5 MP3 player mentioned in this video, again a great review! Currently looking at this Mechen H11 MP3 player during the Black Friday sales. Sounds good for daily use, walks, commuting and the gym. Good to know it works well with Google Play, Amazon Music, Spotify, You Tube and apps compatible with the Android 9 Operating System only. Sounds like a good buy in this competitive market.

There are many variations of this exact same mp3 player. I bought one from Swofy for around $50 on Amazon. It worked well and I liked that it came with a case. Ultimately I returned it because I saw no advantage of using this vs my spare old android phone which has a larger screen.

Funny thing - on the emulation front, I had a bit of trouble getting MAME4Droid to run on this one (which runs Android 9.0), but had no problems with installing it on my Pecsu P5S (which runs Android 8.0). Funny that the "older" device would work better, especially since this H11 seems to be vastly superior in other ways (screen, speed, etc.)

Thx for this great overview! I am not sure about that product. For me it basically is a "normal" mobile phone. Without SIM Card connection. But any other functionality. So there is no single feature that does make this special for an mp3 player. I mean, can you use it blindly? Next/previews song from your pocket just with your hands? Or is there a function for a sleep mode or turn off when not using? I think I really like that product. But I also like any other mobile phone. So maybe a very good aged top phone could be even better when buy second hand. Isn't it?

They generally don't make phones this small anymore so that's a "small" benefit (pun intended). I'd also be less worried about damaging a cheap android mp3 player than a phone (though I guess if you go back far enough you could find a decent one for cheap but then the battery would likely be tired/old). As for using any phone/android media player blindly, most bluetooth audio devices can control track skip, volume and playback from onboard physical controls so that's always an option.

Btw, this works great with my 512 gb Amazon Basics micro sdxc card. Surprisingly fast load times, consuming it's only 100 mb/s.

So the volume really depends on the impedance of your headphones. It's decently loud with my iems and ok with my over ear headphones. As for removing apps, it's android so you can uninstall just about every app that's not necessary for android to run.

From my understanding an MP3 player is for playing music mainly...this is similar to a basic smart phone? Music apps that you can have on a phone, watch videos like on a phone etc. Why not just have an MP3 player that plays music, no FB or million apps...just music?

Nothing forces you to use fb or other apps on this device. The added benefit of having apps is mainly the ui of smart device music apps for browsing tends to be better than standalone audio devices. Also being a smart device allows installation of useful apps that facilitate wireless syncing of new music on the device itself (something dedicated players can rarely do).

If you have an sd card slot on the mac the easiest way is to add songs to an sd card and put the card into the player.

With doubletwist and the eq set it sounds decent over the headphone jack. Maybe not as loud as I'd like for higher impedance headphones but plenty enough for iems. The good thing is it supports usb otg so if you really want you can plug in an audiophile grade usb c dac and it'll absolutely sing. I mostly use bluetooth though for convenience.

Getting a better android phone that's under $100 will mean it's a few gens behind and used. Batteries on sealed phones only last a few years if taken care of so likely before long you'd have to open it to change the battery. Sure that's an option for some but not for everyone.
