Excellent video, Many thanks! I've hopefully just bought a lovely original E93A Prefect, with a similar story to your Anglia, being off the road but looked after and garaged since 1973. Looking forward to exploring what needs to be done to keeping it preserved rather than restored but road usable.

I just love what you’re doing with the Anglia, the ‘oily rag restoration’ and the period ‘trinkets’. As someone else said, “can almost smell it” 🤗 Watching your vid on the Dodge, yes it would make a fantastic camper to take to shows etc. Could be done in modules so as not to permanently disfigure the originality. I had to smile when you let Junior drive it, trying to look all nonchalant but the smile was saying “this is so cool” 😂

What a great old ford. Originality is everything and your car certainly has it in bucket loads. I hope you thoroughly enjoy using it. Thanks for posting I very much enjoy your channel.👍

I saw the earlier video of the Anglia, what an absolute scoop you got there! I'd be totally happy to use that as a daily driver. Who needs motorways anyway? Gorgeous, honest little car.

Thanks, yes it's a little bobby dazzler, I hope to use it for local jaunts on a regular basis

What a nice addition! If you haven't done so already, I recommend joining the FSOC, if only for access to the huge spares department.

Enjoying your video's, love the Anglia, can almost smell all that patina🙂. Hope you get lots of enjoyment with it.

Glad you found it of interest, the Anglia has a smell of Rexine seat coverings mixed with a heady aroma of oil fumes :)

My first car, in 1961/2. You should at least consider finding a rear Panhard rod to stop the rear axle jacking under on bends. Love the AA badge, identical to mine. I never rodded it, but I DID fit an Aquaplane inlet manifold with twin Zeniths, which gave such a lot of low-end torque I seldom had to drop to 2nd gear as soon as I hit an incline. Highly recommended if you can find one on ebay or via the fsoc (again highly recommended!)

Nice surprise it has a dip stick for the gearbox, considering that many more expensive cars in the day never had one and it was a case of having to undo the filler plug and see if the oil was level with the bottom of the hole!
@oldclassiccarUK3 жыл бұрын
Ahh maybe I wasn't clear, the Anglia just has a filler aperture that you fill up to the level of. It's not posh enough for a dipstick sadly :)

I preferred the older lamp that I put on, no other reason, thanks for watching

Did you think when you first filmed the Anglia a few weeks ago that you might end-up owning it? A nice car! If the A40 were mine, I think I would use the new panel as a replacement and keep the original and fit that onto the garage wall, it would seem a shame to cut up a decent panel when the end result of a repair is never likely to be as good as an original factory part. And you can always re-visit a repair on the car's original at some later date!

I was surprised that it became available, and the timing of it meant that it made a lot of sense to offer it a home, especially as I've had sv Fords in the past and knew a bit about this example already. As for the A40 panel, yes I think that's what I'll be doing. Thanks for watching!

Great choice with the Anglia. Do you know what popular "hot up" mods, if any were done by enthusiasts in the fifties to those early side valve engines? (Carburettor/s, Head and valve train mods etc)
@oldclassiccarUK3 жыл бұрын
Aquaplane could supply various engine tuning parts, cylinder heads, twin carb setups, that kind of thing, while Ballamy could supply altered front axle/suspension parts, smaller diameter 15" wheels (often used on Ford-based specials)

I frequently hired one of these in Salisbury and drove to London for the night. I was accompanied by other squaddies, ( soldiers) and we used to think 70 mph was fast.

What a sweet little car from better days on the road. Will you be bringing her up to showroom condition or somewhere near?
@oldclassiccarUK3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. There are shiny restored ones around, this one will be left exactly as it is, keeping it just about as original as it could possibly be. If you have a look at the earlier vid I did a few weeks ago about this car, prior to it going on sale and me buying it, you'll hear about its history and how it came to end up being left alone for several decades following several failed driving test attempts, c1960/61.

I watched your previous video on the Anglia and was quite taken with it, it's such an honest car. I also like the Hilman What year would that be?
@oldclassiccarUK3 жыл бұрын
I think the Hillman is 1946 or 7, this style of Minx came along pre-WW2 then was re-introduced with a few tweaks afterwards. Thanks for watching.

Hi. I remember your A40 . I think you were welding the o/s /r quarter panel . There's not much point in buying a good boot lid and then butchering it to repair yours . Why not attempt a repair on yours and if you fail you still have that " new" one to hand . Make the repair panels out of thick cardboard first and then you can transfer them to steel. lf you lived locally l'd come and show you how . (S.Devon ) . I remember driving a E93A to our local scrap yard and getting the princely sum of £4 ! There was nothing wrong with it ! Even worse l drove a perfectly good Jaguar Mk V drop head to the same yard and got nothing ! This was the early 1970's . And the AA badge ? An apprentice fitted one on a new Triumph 13/60 forgot to trim off the screws and punctured the radiator when lowering the bonnet !
@oldclassiccarUK3 жыл бұрын
Re the bootlid yes that's probably what I'll do, thanks for the offer 👍
