How have I not seen this video??!! I've been looking for the perfect everyday around $500. I never dreamed I would've found one with a selita movement AND an American brand! This is 100% my next watch.

I hope Dufrane will release a version of this waterloo with a black center dial combined with the same silver outer ring like the ones in Universal Genève Polerouters.

I got mine in time for Christmas. I gotta say, I really do love it. The linen-textued dial is everything and the way the numbers are etched gives it a cool midtown vibe, especially when the lume hits. I just need a couple of new straps and I'll be set!

Thank you for the recommendation Teddy. I just received mine. I love it!
@jonathanstoddard20813 жыл бұрын
I find this one really well executed in that it should prove super versatile. It's pretty enough to easily work as a dress piece but with an interesting approach to the Arabics and the lume plus usable water resistance it could just as adequately serve as an everyday casual / sport-ish piece. On paper, the specs easily justify its price. Very nice watch, Teddy.

A very handsome watch, not too bulky not too skinny, they got the case shape spot on. The dial is really nice as well, if the numbers cutouts would have been a bit better finished it would easily be right up there with Seiko as far as minimalist dials go. Great specs for the price too.
@jameshaury27162 жыл бұрын
It looks like a great alternative to an EXPLORER(The brand name has it's letters within the model name but you only need 5 of them)since the brands watches are virtually unobtainable right now. Now all it it needs are good stainless steel bracelet.

I bought the quartz on account of thickness. A superb piece from a unique brand. Nice review as always Teddy.

Would love to see a video on dial types and how they wear / age over time as your dial expertise accumulates. Having only seen linen on vintage Rolexes, do you see this dial holding up over decades? After all, the movement and steel will. Thanks for the Austin love btw, hope you get a chance to visit

It is a nice watch but no exhibition back case is a bummer. Even if the movement is nothing special, I still want to see it and admire the magic of mechanical movements.
@aru83026 ай бұрын
if that is your priority then you can buy for 50 dollars watches that you can see the mechanical movement haha. Even Rolex usually do not show mechanical movement too in the back.
@johndavolta31246 ай бұрын
@@aru8302 dude, there are watches that have excellent movements, materials, craftsmanship, but people would still reject them because the date dial color doesn't match the color of the strap or something like that.... and that's ok. Watches is such a personal hobby with no right/wrong answer; so you don't get to tell me what I should/shouldn't like and why...

That’s a very attractive watch! I like it a lot. The only drawback is the Sellita’s woefully inadequate by modern standards, 38 hour power reserve. Still, I’d rather have the Sellita than a Seiko or Miyota movement.
@bradleyburton4762 Жыл бұрын
I am a timepiece newbie so what do I know, but I don’t understand the issue with 38hr. My thinking is that I do not want my watch to keep running and causing wear and tear if I am not wearing it, especially since it only takes a minute to set it. Where is my logic flawed?
@DavidDatura Жыл бұрын
@@bradleyburton4762 your logic isn’t flawed. I just prefer longer power reserves. It can come in useful sometimes.

Looks nice , just dont like the lume on the hands. Would look alot better without it.
@thomasmathes50193 жыл бұрын
Lovely design but about the machining of the numeral cutouts; is it rough on purpose? I noticed the same rough finishing in the "1" numerals on several spots on the dial, it looks a bit shoddy on the "12" when the lume is shining. And I agree with the comments on the lume tips, makes it a bit hard to see them in normal light.

Clean dial but unfortunately the second hand counter balance is way too short making the watch looks unbalanced especially when it’s 10 minutes past ten and the second hand is at twelve. Thanks teddy but I’d pass.

@lliameasterbrook66343 жыл бұрын
I really, really like so much about this watch. But... why go to the trouble of thermally bluing the hands if you're going to blunt them with lume? Had they offered this without lume, I'd have pulled the trigger. Reminds me of vintage Longines and Omegas from the 40s. The more I look at the hands, the more they appear to be chopped off, and thus the more they just don't work.
@khalid09573 жыл бұрын

@pofurs3 жыл бұрын
Actually i like the overall desing. It's very minimalistic, modern and elegant with those leaf shaped hands. And a reasonable case size with 39mm. But there's a few things that i really don't like; It would be better if all the numerals were the same size without dots in between. The grey finishing on the hands is so unnecessary. And the brand logo gives me the impression that it belongs to a fitness or wellness brand. It looks like the silhouette of a thin waist. 😀 I think it is a design that needs a little more improvement.
@jancovanderwesthuizen80703 жыл бұрын
I really like the design, but I’m not about to drop more than $500 on a micro brand I’ve never heard of, I could get a Tissot or a Hamilton for that

I feel it's their recipe that they choose an uncommon watch-nerdy watch as a base design like Yema Superman II and Naoya Hida NH Type 1C & 2A , and then modify it to make it their own. I appreciate the efforts to make it their own but I hate the part their watches still rely on the original designs too much and they don't show any respects in the marketing materials or in the design elements to wink to those who know the originals. Especially when the watches are marketed for those who are not likely to know the originals, the brand almost deceives customers into thinking they are the brand's original designs. Homage watches in an accessible price range are still valuable if they lead customers to the bigger world but to do that, they should let customers know where designs came from in some ways and then the watches become a great gateway. And, if they talk about their love for the originals, watch nerds would feel comradery and like their watches more.

@coreyandsarahmcconnell11592 жыл бұрын
You can always pick up the quartz version for $299 if cost is a factor. The niche appeal here is going to be towards American consumers, specifically Texans (there are 30,000,000 Texans after all) interested in supporting local business. This doesn't read as an attempt to compete with Swatch group for global appeal at the $500 range (if it was, they wouldn't have let him purchase their ETA movement)
