Hey all, as always you can choose to do what you want with your money, however, I think many brands like the ones reviewed here make lofty claims in ads that prey on newcomers. In case you are interested and are new to watches I have several links in the description that should be helpful for what to look out for as well as some nice alternatives to these. Thanks for watching and I hope your holidays are going well! - Teddy

@@romybuenaventura3133 if by improve you mean get "better at stealing and copiing" you are right. show me the something invented by China in the watches world and i will consider it. meantime i will still buy my Seiko, Casio, Timex, Orient, Tissot, Atlantic and other affordable REAL watckmakers. nobody is forcing you to buy limited series Pateks. i will never understand people that are shrugging off real cheap and serious watchmakers and buy Chinesse copies. You buy yourself a pair of cheap copy of Nike from China and i will by myself some original Addidas - you wear them for one summer, i wear them for 5-8 years. You buy yourself a cheap Chinesse watch and wear it for 3-5 years, i'll pass my watch to my kid.

I own two Fillipo Loreti watches, and I love both of them. Their customer service was excellent, as is the quality of their timepieces. They are "Italian inspired", not Italian made, and it even states so on their website. With that being said, few people can afford the type of watch that typically amounts to a small down payment on a home or automobile. "Homage" brands offer a customer-friendly, affordable option to the so-called "luxury" market. Are all chinese brands worth the money? Absolutely not. I am speaking solely from my experience as a happy owner of several quality homage pieces that I have purchased over the last few years.

@@TruthbyDefault Yes, I have actually. My uncle owns a Daytona, Datejust & Milgauss. Safe to say, he's a Rolex nut, as well as one of the reasons why I love watches, yet hold the feet of the luxury market to the fire. While these types of brands are legendary, the pragmatic side of me realizes that it is just a watch & its purpose is to simply tell the time. The point that I was making was that one didn't have to spend that type of money to own a watch that tells time accurately and reliably. I have $29 dollar Casio watches that are as accurate, if not more so, that will never require servicing, nor will it require me to sell one of my kidneys to enjoy it on my wrist. After all, Bill Gates wears a Casio Duro. Quite a statement considering his wealth & status.

I used to work at a high end store, and a lady came in a bit frazzled and looked at our mens watches. (Which we’re not very good imo). She told me she was looking for a watch as a gift to her husband for her anniversary. She showed me a vincero watch on her phone and said that she liked it and another associate at a different store recommended it as a good brand. I asked her budget and she told me $3000 and she mentioned to me that he had a “Tag” watch. I told her to go to the Omega store down the road. I’m pretty sure I saved that marriage.

Not necessarily. Depends on the brand and the product. Some things I'd rather have a authorized dealer network, others I'd prefer to sell myself. For something like cheap ass watches you're far better off selling them yourself but for a real high end watch I'd want a dealer network just because of the status of the item itself.

I just bought myself an Orient Mako II a little while ago as a birthday present to myself. I picked it because I absolutely loved the dial, the date complication, and the automatic movement. I don’t get the whole “minimalism” thing that these fashion watches are talking about. To me it just looks like an excuse for being lazy when designing the thing. Personally I like a watch that looks more complicated and unique. MVMT, filippo loreti, etc. all look like the first result on Google images if you search “watch.”

Though I am a mechanical watch fan, this is one of the greatest collections I have. I have so many memories of these watches. Though they aren't valuable by any means they have lots of value to me. These brands, are not going to be around forever nor will they have any "value" to them. They will always be cheaply made and recycled ideas from other well established brands. I would say, spend your money on what you want but there are better options out there that have at least a decent Miyota movement or say a Swatch Sistem51 that is a Swiss made mechanical that won't put a strain on your wallet! @@tommyboy71000 Dude if I like the product I don't feel like I am "duped". I understand the marketing is just marketing, I'm in business. I genuinly like the style of the watches I bought over most (if not all that I saw) of the more expensive ones. To each their own, but I do think most watch guys on the internet are pretentious as hell, you really think a lame looking rolex is worth 5000-10.000? It isn't to me and I gladly wear my Vincero green marble watch over it. But if others are willing to pay that much for such a watch then I'm fine with that; it's not my money nor my style Oh, and btw I like the style of my watches over the citizen/seiko/fossil watches too. You would call those "better options" but theyre not better if they look less nice or awful. And I buy my watches for me, not for compliments. And you may doubt i got them, but I did. @tommyboy71000
@tommyboy71000 4 жыл бұрын
@@Sam-ko8mt like i said - defending it does not make it better. But it's a subjective thing - the taste. Quality is not. Lame Rolex have been making watches for like 100 years and i think for this time people assembling these things by hand and while doing that reshaping and redifining the industry deserves a little credit. I would think so. That's why it's considered luxury. Fashion watches are not luxury like they claim to be. They're junk pretending to be something else. And that's an additional point. Genuinity! Everybody is lying these days. It's become a norm. Influencers lie, the brands lie, everybody lies just to make a quick buck. All the time the quality and reliability is going down the hill. Fashion watches are just the consequence of bombarding people with ads to sell junk. And it's working so long til you start doing a bit of research. But that's not everyone's cup of tea. Like i said - fashion watches have it's own place in the market. And if you buy that on sites like aliexpress etc., pay like 10,20 bucks, you got yourself a proper watch my friend. Maybe it will last, maybe it won't, but at least you pay what you get. It will probably be a knock-off of many brands and watches, but that's the chinese business model. The same can be said for a cheap Casio with one distinction - they've been around for many years, sold millions and millions of watches to happy costumers. They are what they are - not pretending to be luxurios. They don't make exaterated claims about how your life will change after buying this watch:)))) Call me oldschool, but i'm big on that - provable time of making quality products. I see influencers for what they are - prosstitutes for everything that brings them money. And these lying brands are a natural match for them. Win-win for everybody except for the customers:)))))

Good video. Earlier I actually considered to get a Vincero because they are really stylish, in my opinion. Now I will continue to stick to Citizen, Seiko, Tissot and similar. I think MVMT is the worst of these brands. They don't even look luxuary but cheap. A few years ago I ordered 4 cheap watches from China just of curiosity. The prices were between ~$1-5. One of them is exactly the black MVMT showed in the video. The only outer difference on the front is that it's labeled "DooBo" instead of MVMT. But the same red text color. By the way: a while ago I saw an advert from a (claimed) german brand called Lige. The watches looked good but not a single photo, all pictures were computer animated. I think that in itself makes it not trustworthy...

Yeah I got a Vincero a few years back and it actually does get me compliments but it's definitely not what it has been hyped up to be in terms of quality. It wasn't extremely expensive but after learning more about watches you can do so much better. I'd say a Vincero is worth $50-75, they look nice but that's about it. A fashion watch!

Interesting! No, I mean that. I got an MVMT watch some 2-3 years ago, and honestly I love it. It still looks new (aside from the holes in the wristband getting a bit worn out) and works just fine. I've only needed to change the battery once so far, as the original battery held up for just over 2 years. It tells the time accurately enough (it's off by about a minute maybe once or twice a year.) Despite it being a type of watch that can't handle water well (it's not supposed to, it has a low level rating) it hasn't gotten any water damage, but then again I also don't subject it to water. Regardless of the brand, I think it just makes sense to take care of your watch. Also, I'm actually amazed that this watch has lasted me this long and is still going strong. Because all of my prior watches broke literally two weeks after I had bought them. I almost thought I had some kinda watch curse on me lol. So this bugger holding on for years feels like a miracle to me. And I've been wearing it pretty much every day. I realize now that maybe I was just lucky, or maybe I can't tell quality from shit. Both are absolutely possible as I really dunno shit about watches, and I get that my experience is not universal. As for the design I like how it looks (obviously, or I wouldn't have bought it) and I don't think it looks cheap at all. It has a golden (likely steel or other metal gold-plated) frame with a black face and brown leather strap. Nothing too fancy but it looks classic and I do get a lot of compliments for it. Even my dad was impressed and he's never impressed by anything I wear. Does that mean my MVMT watch is super high quality luxury stuff? No, I really can't be the judge of that. But I think it means that it can't be absolute bottom of the barrel crap quality, like all my previous watches must have been, at least not this particular item, and at the very least it means that it's good enough for me. That said, yeah I agree that their marketing tactics are awful, but I always knew that. I just thought "this is what companies do nowadays to sell their shit" and didn't think much of it. I come from the mindset that all kinds of ads and marketing is probably just scam, so I never listen to that part of any company, or at the very least I take all advertisement with a huge grain of salt. So was I scammed? I wouldn't say so. I didn't expect a rolex. But in actuality, this watch has exceeded my expectations by far. Especially since I only paid some $100 for it. But I still don't think companies should be shitty. So while I love my watch, I kinda doubt that I would buy from that same company again. So I think this video highlighted an important issue regardless of if you like these companies' watches or not.

There are a handful making high end high art watches in the world like FPJ and Bovet and urwerk all the rest are scarcely better than this crap.

well it is expensive for the trash you're buying with these social media brands. so its hard to disagree. Imagine the luxury of paying $150 for a $5 movement? That's luxury! More affordable at $10's thats for sure, you're paying the "luxury" tax of 2000% mark up.
