Once the average person leaves there 20's, you discover a shocking reduction in ability to recover from injury. Cammy's facing a tough go in spite of being in amazing shape, because his daily work demands so much activity. In many cases a simple break is easier to recover from than repeated sprains. My heart goes out to you man. I joined the Army Reserves at age 36 and every bump bruise and strain took double the time to recover than just 10 years earlier.

Such a busy day and then re-injuring that ankle - I winced when you were talking and in obvious pain but then to see it so swollen at the end - you have my sympathy, I've been there. I have to be careful with my own ankle all the time now, years later. The body does not forgive these injuries as we age. I have a brace for every joint in my medical stash, a complete bin of different compression bandaging, ice wraps for various body parts, etc. Please make sure to think long term as far as supporting that ankle during every day work once it is healed, it will hopefully help keep another bad twist from happening. Hugs to you and Lizzie, and I hope it heals quickly.

Do take care of yourself! Multiple sprains bring bad things later, so heal properly (I know this from experience, and as a nurse). Get some compression, too. Higher boots will help to support your ankle, so find some, and wear them regularly.

Cold relief on a bruise is 100% a must, apply as soon as you can for as long as you can (8-12 hours, almost constantly). I recently bruised my palm pretty seriously, I couldn't write for the first day. I applied cold for as long as I could, for most of the day. The "cold" were aluminium drink cans (with their drinks), they are extremely convenient for small bruises; I had a can of beer with me at work because the closest shop only sold beers from their fridge 😆 I drank it the next week at home, I was on antibiotics, didn't risk drinking. That bruise wasn't as bad as it could be, that hand recovered in just a few days. The elbow though, which was hurt at the same time (I slipped and fell), which felt less damaged, and didn't hurt as much, still hurts after two weeks! Cold compress is a saviour.

@catherine_404

@@TheSheepGame idk about warm, I was just hugging my two cans of beer intermittently (putting the second can on the outer windowsill to cool out), and it helped. Just take care of yourself. Don't overwork the injury, the better you take care of it, the faster you get back to 100% efficient.

Ankles are hard to ice effectively. Over many years and 6 boys I’ve found a bucket of cold water with ice in it does the best job. First 3 days you get the most benifit. Do 20 mins a time as often as you can. You may need a boot for comfort and physiotherapy to rebuild the ankle after.

Had a severe sprain once and was on crutches for 2 weeks. Also, try wrapping it with an ace bandage for stability. And don't put ice directly on skin, wrap it in a towel then do 20 min on / 20 min off for 1 hr several times a day. Lastly, ibuprofen works best on soft tissue injuries. Get well soon!

@@kathybradbury If the problem is an injury, then the Ibuprofen works better because it helps with inflammation. If you are only on Ibuprofen for a few weeks, then it shouldn't be a problem. You can take Aspirin and Tylenol with it for pain.
@kathybradbury
@kathybradbury Жыл бұрын
@@westzed23 a lot of people have a toxic reaction to Tylenol and ibuprofen. I personally have. I’ve also heard that around 100,000 people a year die from the use of Ibuprofen a year in the US. That’s why I caution people on the use of it. For myself, my urinary system shuts down from the use of NSAIDS. Aspirin works pretty well though. Aspirin was disparaged when Tylenol was given the green light for OTC sales.

Ice is your best friend. I’ve gone through 8 different knee surgeries (both are now titanium, chrome cobalt, and milk jug plastic so they don’t hurt anymore, and I can do things I did 30 years ago pain free). Found that ice was far better for pain relief than any meds. Take time to heal! Also - pay attention to how your foot and ankle fits into your footwear. If you have some oversized Wellies, take them with you in the vehicle when you start the day’s work, because you are likely to need the bigger boot later in the day.

@@TheSheepGame if you could weight bear at all after the initial injury it's unlikely that the ligament is completely ruptured (detached from bone) but it could have a tear. The best option is to have it scanned to get exact detail on what has occurred. Not by you doing the scan ! Otherwise, keep doing the ice and elevation treatment every time you can get a rest. That, plus ibuprofen and paracetamol at max dose will help. Lizzie will give you adequate care...if you behave yourself. Other
