It turned out that it wasn't even a contest! Joey took down Kobayashi hard by downing 83 dogs to Kobayashi's 67 in 10 minutes with rules: No separation of bun and dog. No dunking into water and any crumbs/pieces and food left in the mouth after time expired was weighed and deducted from the total dogs ate for each competitor. Joey had nothing left in his mouth but Kobayashi did so he had to spit it out for them to weigh it.

As a longtime Joey Chestnut fan, it seriously broke my heart not seeing him compete. But what I respect the most is that he handled it the right way. He didn’t demand protesters or violence outside.
