I just finished watching it and even though it’s the shortest season it’s by far the best one I’ve seen, it managed to stay comedic through a really depressing subject matter and really gave proper depth to these characters they’ve been building up for so long, it feels like this could’ve been the actual end of the show with how well made it is. The whole adult arc was so interesting to see as you still see glimpses of their child selves in their grown up bodies, but is also super depressing at the same time due to how realistic their futures turn out and who they become

Cartman's relationship with his friends wasn't the reason he was horrible, his hatred for Kyle was. When Cartman reunited with Kyle, he was starting to revert back to his old self. It wasn't until his wife and kids saw what he was becoming that he managed to pull himself out of it.

Yep. You see Stan still in his expressions and how he talks and handles situations. Kid Stan had a tendency to run away from his problems and hated facing his demons. Adult Stan is the same way. He obviously still has thirty something years of resentment and pain for how his mother and sister died and his failed friendships and poor relationship with his dad.

Stan obviously isn't doing so well with his drinking problem and virtual wife, but Kyle seems to be doing just fine. Not everyone wants a family, Cartman could be just faking family bliss to piss on his old friends, most parents of small children are tired and miserable lol.
