@ you're talking about broadband starlink satellites, but the direct to cell ones that connect to cellphones, and the requirements for their performance, are different. right now they can't offer any kind of speed because of interference concerns, but also because of the tech is not very well designed for the precision of direct to cell connectivity. It's not an issue with starlink dish broadband, users have a ground antenna and aren't in risk of interfering with other bands

The data works, it’s that not enough of the satellites with cellular bands have been launched to suddenly have 320 million Americans streaming KZbin from it. By starting with text it allows them to test then scale it up to full data. There are certain pockets already using data like over by Starbase, Texas

Yes. 7,000 satellites are currently in orbit and they look like stars. 12,000 more are planned to be deployed, but their goal is closer to 35,000. We will never see the original constellation of stars because of this space trash

The thing is that your iPhone only support message via satellite but this tech, through start with sms texting, will expand to data too which you can use internet on it. Also you don't have to point your phone to the satellite for optimal connection

iPhone uses the Iridium satellites that are much further and send preset codes using a special interface where Starlink will uses the standard functions of your phone
