In part 1, I overview this train and introduce some interesting (even strange) spots of Tokyo from the window.
In part 2, I visit a famous Mt.Fuji photo-spot "Chureito Pagoda", eat local cuisine "Yoshida-Udon" (wheat noodle), and ride funny resort trains of Fujikyu-Railway. Please watch it later.

Hi, thanks for the videos, I find your descriptions really informative (for example the train separation part and maglev route). For this train from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko, which side should we choose for better views? Is it the left side or right side?
@visitjapanchannel

Thank you for cheering comment on my video! I recommend left side (seat number D) when going from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko. You can see Mt.Fuji on Fujikyu Railway. Also, you can enjoy mountainous scenery or beautiful lake “Sagamiko” on JR Chuo-Line. Please try it!

@bonilla1240
@bonilla1240 Жыл бұрын
@taipenn8963 It is covered part of the way (until Otsuki). After that, purchase your ticket for the remainder of the way at Otsuki station (you'll have to get off the train anyway because the train splits. One half goes to Kawaguchi/Mt Fuji, the other goes somewhere else).

I'm going to Fuji via JR Tokyo Wide Pass, is it required to reserve a seat prior to riding the Fuji Excursion train?
@visitjapanchannel
@visitjapanchannel Жыл бұрын
I really really recommend to reserve seats in advance. Since this train has only 3 cars, almost all seats are usually sold out. If you have Tokyo Wide Pass, you can use this train for free without reservation. But you may have to spend uncomfortable time with standing for 2 hours. You can book seat at JR-EAST ticket counter for free very easily, so I definitely recommend to do it! It makes your 2 hours much more comfortable.

@@visitjapanchannel hello, I keep on repeating this video but really need help. I hope you can help: 1. do you mean for Tokyo Wide pass, I can use it for the Fuji excursion train? So from shinjuku to kawaguchiko no need to change trains? All covered by Tokyo wide pass? 2. How advance book do you mean? Can I do reserve book on the same day like 2hrs before departure? Or reserve only works day before? Thank you so much

@@rejgrace5504 Thank you for giving questions. 1. That’s right. Tokyo Wide Pass covers all sections from Shinjuku to all the way to Kawaguchiko. You can use for free. 2. The booking itself can be done by the departure time, but this train is so popular that all seats tend to be sold out. So I recommend to book as soon as possible.

Good video. For this Fuji-Excursion, Fujisan Express and Fujisan View Express, may we enquire for the seal reservations, how could JR pass holders reserved the seats as these are not JR trains. Will the JR counters at the various stations such as Tokyo Station allow seat reservations for these private trains?
@visitjapanchannel
@visitjapanchannel Жыл бұрын
Thank you for giving important questions. Basically, we can’t reserve private companies’ tickets at JR ticket counter except “direct trains” which running through JR and private companies. Fuji-Excursion is the case, so you can buy it at JR stations like Tokyo or Narita Airport. On the other hand, seats of trains running only within a private company aren’t sold at JR counter. Fujisan Express and Fujisan View Express are the case. You can buy these tickets only at a private company’s ticket counter. But nowadays, most of companies have their own reservation website. You can buy reservation tickets in advance online. But payment system differs among companies. Credit card payment on website is available in most cases. But there are some cases you can only “book” seat online, and have to visit counter to purchase it later. Fujikyu Railway is the latter. Please check the website below. Thank you for comment. express-reserve.fujikyu.co.jp/en/customer

Hi, thanks for sharing the video. I have purchased the JR Pass and reserved the JR Excursion 7 (car 2). The JR reservation can only reserve up to Otsuki. Is it true I don't need to get off the train at Otsuki, and just wait until the conductor comes and I pay the additional fare from Otsuki to Kawahuchiko which is not covered by JR Pass? If not, what is the best way to secure my seats all the way to Kawaguchiko? Thanks for your help!
@Xxxxxxxxxxcxccc
@Xxxxxxxxxxcxccc Жыл бұрын
my same question!!
@visitjapanchannel
@visitjapanchannel 11 ай бұрын
Thank you for giving important question for everyone. Simply put, you only have to pay additional fare (1,770) for the conductor on the train. Let me explain in details. Japan Rail Pass (nation wide type) is valid only until JR Otsuki station. On the Japan Rail Pass seat reservation website or JR ticket counter, you can book your seat until Otsuki station as well. Though you don’t have reservation from Otsuki to Kawaguchiko, the vehicle doesn’t change, just keeps on going to Kawaguchiko. So you only have to stay your seat. After leaving Otsuki, the conductor will start checking passengers tickets, so please ask him or her to buy additional fare(1,770) Actually, booking seats only from Otsuki to Kawaguchiko cannot be permitted by the regulations. Instead, passengers can buy “vacant seat or standing ticket”. Passengers getting on at Otsuki station try to find vacant seats. Therefore, if you leave your seat to buy something or for toilet, someone may rob your seat. So, I recommend to remain seated after Otsuki station. Sorry to be too long… If you need more information, you can ask me.

@@visitjapanchannelthis is the answer I've been looking for! So in short, if I reserved my seat for Shinjuku-Otsuki, I should not get off the Otsuki Station (I'm a JR pass holder) and instead buy ticket from the conductor. Thank you!!

★You can use the JR-PASS (nationwide), but in this case, you have to pay additional fee for Fujikyu Railway. ・Tokyo-Otsuki : JR ・Otsuki-Kawaguchiko : Fujikyu Railway You can book the seat at JR ticket counter for free (JR-PASS holders can book trains any times for free) Please pay additional JPY 1,770 when you get off at Kawaguchiko terminal. Staffs are standing at fare adjustment office. If you possess JR-PASS(nationwide) , this way is the most convenient and efficient. ★Kawaguchiko area is worth visiting during Tokyo trip. Kawaguchiko is known as one of the best Mt.Fuji view spot. You can enjoy watching from rope way or sightseeing boat. In addition, this area is designated as National Park. Not only Kawaguchiko (Kawaguchi lake), there are other beautiful lakes here (called Fuji Five Lakes). You can travel around these spots by sightseeing bus. Also, the spot called ‘’Oshino Hakkai’’ is really nice (though a little bit crowded) If you like, I would really like you to visit this area at once! Please experience great Mt.Fuji🗻 Thank you .

@luvathrun Thank you for comment! I answer your question. You’re right! I mean you can book seat of Fuji Excursion at any JR ticket counter. Though you have to pay additional fare ticket and express ticket at Kawaguchiko later, the seat reservation is valid for all sections (both JR & Fujikyu Railway) You can book at any stations with ticket counter all over Japan. Please be careful, not all the stations have ticket counters. Small stations or rural stations tend to have no ticket office with staff. But most major stations have. If you tell a staff “I would like to book Fuji Excursion”, you can get the ticket immediately😃

Otsuki to Shimoyoshida: JPY600 Shimoyoshida to Kawaguchiko: JPY400 By the way, Shimoyoshida and Kawaguchiko are very close. It takes only 13-15 minutes regardless of express or local. It may be more convenient to choose any trains you like on timetable depending on your travel schedule.
