SIX ACT Love that! The Greens are really trying to change things~especially our outlook on science. I've been involved with science for over 40 yrs. I'm an NP (nurse practitioner retired) and my love for all things related to these sacks of blood, bone and tissue that we haul around for about 70 or so years are truly wonders in both their strengths and weaknesses.

Man, I'm reading this book right now. In less than a week, I've read 180 pages, which is phenomenal for me when it comes to non-fiction. I can say that I've always had a more positive (realistic) look on the world than others, but this book confirms that I should fight the ignorance that so many people around me have.

I have just finished the book and it's very well written and super easy to visualize. The only issue is some of the data he shares is a little difficult to believe. I did check several of his facts. They checked out as far as I could find. That doesn't mean much though since the internet has become so condescending.

As Rosling points out, there has been amazing progress over the last decades in every human development factor, from child mortality to the number of guitars produced. However we must not forget that all this was achieved on the back of coal fired power and oil for internal combustion. This will be the most pressing concern for the future, especially as it is becoming clear that renewable energy (sun and wind) is not up to the task of replacing fossil. Not even close. The only chance for economic prosperity and fossil fuel reduction is nuclear.
