I think it's a great idea to make notes to make sure I understand what I read. Been doing it for a few months now. But the block 1 hour is new to me. This whole time I literally thought everyone can just focus reading in the 5-10 minutes gap within daily activities. Sometimes I found it hard to focus especially when my mind's busy. Thanks for the tips Bill Gates!

I know how it is when you come across a thing you disagree and then it takes longer to finish. With stories is different because the author takes you to the journey the reader decides to make when it starts reading the book. With this video, I've been confirmed what I was thinking: that Bill Gates reads books turning page after page, like any other human being! :-)

Interesting how Naval Ravikant has a different way of reading, in the sense, he doesn’t start with the intention of finishing it. He admits to reading 6-7 books at a time while reading bits and pieces of each depending on his inclination... different ways of reading but both effective nonetheless. The other parts are spot on: reading for at least an hour if not more per day etc etc

This is exactly what I do! I’ve always taken notes in the margins, I’ve always made a little note of what was going on in my life in the front of the book before I started it and I’ve always made a note in the back of the book of what I thought about the book, a mini review of sorts. Who knew that Bill Gates does the same thing! By the way, my wife always gets crazy that I write all through my books. She has to keep everything very clean and organized, no writing, no dog ears, etc. Definitely sharing this video with her ha ha

He is seen as mostly non-partisan and as the quintessential billionaire. (He does have views on wealth inequality that may be described as progressive, but in my view he is very much a capitalistic-minded person and he doesn't lean too much in any one ideological direction). Compared to all the really famous American billionaires (Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, Michael Bloomberg, etc.) he seems to have little to no political ambitions. He is a major figure in reforming the U.S. primary education system (but he hasn't been effective). Similar to Steve Jobs, Bill Gates is known to be a businessman that will do anything to succeed (you can look up his relationship with Paul Allen for more on that). Overall, he isn't a very public figure (in contrast to Steve Jobs who had more of a public persona and is still held in overly gratuitous admiration by the American public at large) and that may have started in 2000 when he stepped down from his role as CEO of Microsoft and stayed as the chairman of its board of directors. He is a public figure in American society, but he appears to purposely keep a balance so as to not be too public.
