Seems like a great idea, and it looks great so far! Conveyor belts are very satisfying to watch :D great job animating them! For my devlog game I chose to do a super low-scope game for my first game as well XD Keep it up!

Very impressive video quality! I hope this new game's scope doesn't balloon out of control too fast... but going for systems instead of narrative content is a good way to create a lot of bang for your buck.
@ObviousDev4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :) I hope for the same and I also hope that the system approach is helping with that.

I'm interested in your map implementation. For my game, I was planning on using the Tilemap system, and they worked great for creating the ground. However, they definitely don't seem suitable for managing dynamic game objects such as trees that can be cut down, or ore that can be mined. Is this why you went with your own system?

Wow great start! Thinking about the problem of closing player in conveyors, maybe in a grid based game is difficult to make player jump system. So I was thinking about some kind of bridges or glassTile, where conveyors are under and you can walk over. Then, In my opinion the game would be more interesting if the player's inventory didn't exist, and you have to manage all your stuff only in the toolbar. It's so difficult to implement inventory, and some of them are really bad, but in this way could be juicier. Good Work!

i like this style of games, good job. are the conveyor belts based on physics or do you move the items with a script?
@ObviousDev4 жыл бұрын
Hey there :) Thank you! The conveyor belts and every movement in the game is logic based, there is not one rigidbody in the game. The conveyor belt tile checks if the target neighbour tile is free and if that's the case it tells the item to move to the next tile :)
@zonic3124 жыл бұрын
@@ObviousDev Really awesome project you got going on here! Reminds me of Factorio. My question is: Is using the logic based system less expensive on the system? I plan on making my own belt based game and any feedback is appreciated!
@ObviousDev4 жыл бұрын
@@zonic312 That's a really good question, I would have to compare it in the profiler. But if you ask me, not using physics, should totally be less expensive. But I do want to get good with the profiler, so I may make some comparisons in the near future and put the results in another devlog :) And thanks for the nice words!
