A New Generation - Did You Like It?

Been a while, hasn't it?
Movie's out for a week now and like before I'm curious about your views: did you like the new movie? Like the video if you did, dislike it if you did NOT.

Oh, I did! I think the reason a lot of people are rating it as an below average movie is because they were fixating their attention on the story rather than the movie as a whole. The movie as a whole has great background music, songs, character designs, backgrounds, and a rather week story (the story elements themself are pretty promissing tho). Generally, the movie really feels the people behind worked with a lot of passion and love, which is very promissing for a new Generation of a show. I also like the breath of fresh air of creating characters from scratch (or at least toning down Mane 6 characters) rather than recolering the Mane 6 or something likewise So yeah, there are already a lot of things I like about the movie, and the new generation - Let's see how it continues!

I liked it. There are things I really hope they talk about when the season starts. But as long as they at least touch on my biggest questions I thought the movie was a good watch.

For this movie, it seemed like FIM was a story/legend. But they are doubling down on the "it's the future" garbage. I will not be watching it. They already defiled FIM enough without taking a dump on its grave too.

I concur that the setting if they want to try to keep pushing it that way is really bad. Especially considering that the movie would have worked exactly the same way without any g4 references in it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I really hope they will not keep pushing that future AU angle at all in the show, but you say they are doubling down on it - is there any news regarding that? Interesting phrasing though, hehe.

@@Wissle I'm in a Discord server of anti-S9 people and some of them have been looking through information on upcoming stuff (out of morbid curiosity more than anything). Anyway, some of them found info on a new CG movie, and a new series (that has garbage tier "art style", in fact it's so bad I don't even consider it art), and they are really going into the "future" angle. The reality is, it was intended to be its own world not connected to FIM, and Hasbro at the last minute executive meddled the whole "sequel" thing in because they thought it would make it sell. Which makes me dump the entire thing in the trash along with S9. Note: it's not the same as the save MLP group, even though at the root we share some of the same sentiments (and some folks in my Discord server have posted in that group), my group is pragmatic and realizes Hasbro is not going to "redo" anything, and it's up to the fans. We eventually hope to grow it and get more people. (Realizing we won't find anyone in the current "fandom" and have to look to people who have become disillusioned and left it.) For the record, there are 3 episodes I can accept in S9 without any changes: Point of No Return, Common Ground, and Going to Seed. The rest need...changes. Some can get by with minor changes, others need to be dropped entirely. I will not accept any story that involves the tree or elements being "destroyed" (that's nonsensical). I will not accept any story that forces "shipping" between characters, that's also nonsense. And I will not accept anything that portrays "the future"...in my mind not much time has passed, and their world doesn't just stop because the cameras leave. And of course, the "epilogue" which is the single worst episode I have ever seen of any show...I consider that a tumor and had to cut it out along with anything even tangentially connected to it. I watch those 3 episodes of S9 and then consider Rainbow Roadtrip the finale. I basically don't consider myself part of the fandom anymore, unless you're talking about a very specific subset that rejects S9 and "future" stuff.

@@Wissle It...just came up in my recommended. I was surprised because it's been awhile since I've looked at any fandom related videos. While I still consider myself a massive fan of FIM (well except for S9), I have moved on from the majority of the fandom. I will not be part of a community that accepts S9 or "the future".

First of all, I would like to apologize for posting this here, but I have been as of yet unable to find a way to contact you, so youtube, flawed as it is, will have to suffice. I find it strange that in many of carbot's diablo videos, you are often the top commentator, even when you do not possess the largest amount of 'likes.' I do not blame you, as I suspect that youtube may influence the top comment in a strange fashion that is somehow tied to channel size, as I have often noticed this phenomenon in other videos with other large creators. Do you notice this when looking at your comments on other videos? Thank you for your time, and even though I may not view your content, I can appreciate someone who creates, and adds to the world.

Cannot say I've been aware of that for my own comments tbh, they always show up at the top on any video that I've commented on anyways when I watch it while logged in... but it's probably as you say some kind of youtube ranking at play there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
