A new genetic map of Britain

A profile of the genetic map of Britain produced by Oxford University researchers, featured in the 2012 Summer Science Exhibition.
Professor Sir Walter Bodmer and Peter Donnelly discuss the surprising findings of the project, which took blood samples from more than 4,000 people across the British Isles, and discuss the implications both for healthcare, and our understanding of British history.

Yes, Islay was one collection point, @adecentusername. The project targeted individuals all four of whose grandparents came from the same region, which led to an emphasis on rural and outlying areas. (Added a link in the description to show more)

Was that... was that the main street in Bowmore at 0m36? Is there anything genetically interesting about the Hebrides, that didn't make the final draft of this video? Would love to hear more.

More then excellently interesting story is if based only on the outstanding older book by Prof. sir Isaac Newton ...
