personally I didn't played alfa/beta and discovered this game shortly before Update 1. Respective I knew about it for a while but I was unsure if it isn't too complex for me. but I'm glad I gave it a shot. So far I sink almost 600 hours in this game, over the early access and two updates and still didn't even tried all the maps

I love it, it feels so... grounded compared to other factory games. I like having to meet a population's needs as well as production targets

@@ItsBitz I've been enjoying it quite a lot. I love the realism that the game offers in the settings and recipes (they are very close to what goes on in real life). I really like the ore sorting system implemented in update 2, it is a building which changes the dynamic of the game and compliments the realism theme of the game. I am currently in a very late game and trying to survive a death spiral due to a lack of maintenance, with the aim of obtaining a self-sufficient island.

I had written a nice, long (and hopefully helpful) comment, but youtube decided to delete it by loading another video. I think I remembered most of it: 22:50 you can clean up "debris" like this with the sweeping brrom button in the bottom left. Be warned it costs obscene amounts of unity. Usually you want to use unity to "quick-build" things instead by holding ctrl while placing something, using the unity-tool (also in the bottom left, once you got "tools" researched), or clicking the unity button to deliver/remove stuff on any construction job. This saves you trips for your trucks, time, and fuel. Unity being generated when you're at max unity (like you are most of the video) is just wasted anyway. 28:15 you disabled the "iron scrap" recipe from the furnace, which I wouldn't recommend. Using the free iron scrap from the com station is closer, and doesn't produce slag (which then has to be dumped somwhere). Also the station only disappears once all resources are gone, which of course can't happen if the iron scrap isn't taken out. 37:40 yes, trucks can go under pipes/belts/... at level 2 and 3, excavators can't go under them at all and need ramps to cross them (research). Technically excavators can go under pipes level 4 or 5 (can't remember), but that's usually not worth the hassle to setup.

now one more coment (sorry for that) I commeneted before I watched the video and thing is this... 1.) Don't be afraid to take things slowly on a first play, if you rush you will probably end in death spiral. 2.) Play with setting you like, not those others tell you to play on. Once you get the grip on basics, you can slowly add more things and settle on the mix of setting that make you feel good ( I for example do ore sorting, realism+, but set machines without electricity to gradualy stop instead of at once, so I have chance to react) I want game to make me think and react, butz not to be frustratingly punishing

Take loans out early and often, with stuff you don't need- that's how you 'research' better credit for when you actually need something.

ahhhh... Bitz finally starting CoI for real 🙂 I am not sure how much time you spend on alpha/beta, or what it was, but Update 2 definitely did a lot of good and I'm looking up for this Lets Play

I started with dumping the waste in the sea as well but now I feel kinda bad about that. so now I dump it on the ground and also want to dig out my old waste to get it out of the water again. lets see how this works
