So notice how she talks about Aura in the chorus. If we’re talking about mediation and spirituality which Lisa has indicated interest in, Purple and Gold Auras have very distinct meanings. Dark Purple means struggle and pain, while gold is higher purpose, bright energy, and optimism. So in a spiritual sense she’s talking about a spiritual battle she might have also had to overcome. She’s also using the purple lotus flower that also has a spiritual meaning in Buddhism. It’s can mean looking within and rebirth. So basically she had to look within, shed some of her pain and become enlightened and an awakening. Also notice how she shaved the purple glitter off of her leg. She’s shedding that energy.

The imagery is cool. I’m old enough to recognize the ‘ladies etiquette training’ references. A lady must be able to walk with an apple between the knees without dropping it. Don’t rip or dirty your stockings. Cross your feet at the ankles not the knee. Don’t wear a lot of jewelry, a single row of pearls are enough. 😳 later there is imagery that relates to be watched, people treating you like a doll to put makeup on, stepping on the apple. Lisa co-wrote this song and she has full creative control over her solo work now so the mv visuals really re-inforce the lyrics. “pain has come and gone again, walked through that fire, i rediscover.” And we see her watched closely, trapped, controlled tightly, limited, copied. I think this is how she felt when her solo career was still managed by YG. “purple into gold” Lisa is very spiritual and a devout Buddhist. Purple aura can mean suffering while gold is optimism and higher purpose. We see her shedding the purple into gold visually too. She is leaving old limitations behind and stepping into her true self. “soak up, all new, so i cut, i go to the root, off to bloom” And we see her inside a purple lotus flower fading into gold, again with the color symbolism and lotus also represents rebirth in her culture. She will also make her acting debut in The White Lotus so that might be another easter egg😁 We see a lot of “blooming” imagery too. We see four ladies made to behave a certain way until one in yellow tights (Lisa’s signature color) steps on the apple (reminiscent of the apple eaten by Eve) and breaks free. Could be a reference to YG again. “gotta make you tougher, tryna say you suffer, don't blame your mother, elevate, i liberate a new frontier, i’m a new woman” - Lisa was recently asked what she would say to her 13 year old trainee self and she replied “I’d say let her suffer!” because she believes the suffering she went through “elevated” her into who she is today, she’s always said if she could go back in time she’d do it all again. Also coincidentally, Lisa’s mother was the one who started her in singing dancing and acting classes😁

I am a Lily not a blink. I love the BLACKPINK girls and have seen them live 6 times. As a Lily we knew when she did Crazy Horse that was her signal to her Lilies that she was not resigning to YG. Let me tell you when she did that all the ones who I am in contact with where shouting hollering and singing that she was out of there. Whether they come back as a group I honestly don't know but she couldn't even use her own name Lalisa because YG had trademarked it. YG knew from her winning the VMA that they were not going to get her to resign. Fast forward to now. She is no longer KPOP she is POP and with that she controls everything she does she keeps her music she gets credited for it. This is indeed a brand new era and YG must be kicking themselves.
