That's easily explained. He had his wife's hair on his person when he used the tape, or she had used the tape and her hair was stuck to it. I doubt very seriously his wife has any involvement. This man not only did things to evade police, he also took steps to keep his wife from knowing that he was seeking out prostitutes. I feel for his wife and children.

his wife was on vacation when all the women were killed. They probably were in the house. Women's hair gets all over the place. I myself am a shedder. If they were on the floor at some point, it seems inevitable.

The cops didn't really believe that the Killer was calling the victims' families. So they didn't seriously pursue that angle and try to track/trace/triangulate those calls and the burner phones until this new task force did it.
