I just want them to do more of this. I think they could fill the void that Rush left when they retired. Playing very technically difficult and challenging music that is radio friendly and and still heavy. I think they could pull it off.

One of my new favorite bands. A super group of biblical proportions. Also, I love the variation of their songs. Not everyone likes that some songs are more poppy, but I find it refreshing how they can write lovely pop rock tunes and then kick into stuff like A New Picture. 😂 Getting one of the best drummers in the world, Kanade Sato just took this band to the moon!

With this video, a rock fan who only listens to rock, This video has made rock fans who only listen to rock music know KANADE SATO, the world's greatest drummer who can play jazz, fusion, rock, and everything in between. People around the world who listen to jazz and fusion music are no strangers to KANADE SATO. She started playing drums at the age of 3, became a world champion at 12, a professional drummer at 15, and has played with many famous professional fusion bands. I would like to hear a super shred band with KANADE SATO (drums) on the triple guitars of HALCA (guitar), LISA-X (guitar) of ASTERISM, and SAKURA YOSHIDA (guitar) of HAGANE.

KOIAI's blend of prog, shred and pop is developing nicely. You can hear the Polyphia influence in a lot of Lisa's stuff but, as I'm not a big Polyphia fan, I much prefer what KOIAI does! Kotono's clean and modern voice will work for a range of tastes, so I'm hoping they do well. This stuff proves that there's still plenty of room for guitars in music with a strong pop element.

KOIAI's music is more pop based, I would love to see them create more material like this. The main guitarist Li-sa-X is a 19 y/o prodigy who has been doing guitar shredding KZbin videos since she was 6. One of her most viral videos was playing a cover of Racer X:'s "Scarified" when she was 8. That video ultimately caught the attention of Paul Gilbert who then offered (she accepted) to take her own as a student (Gilbert has a huge following in Japan. He hosted a Japanese metal music game show with Marty Friedman, speaks fluent Japanese and had a Japanese wife). The other guitarist Hazuki is a technical wizard. You can really get a sense of her technical ability as she plays Steve Vai level instrumentals in Ibanez videos demoing her signature guitars and products. Her main band is the all female metal band Nemophila which isbconsiderd one of the top 3 all-female Japanese metal/rock bands along with Band Maid and LoveBites. The drummer Kanade Sato is another child prodigy who became a professional Jazz/Fusion drummer at 5. Theres a lot of talent here, can't wait to see what these young ladies have in store for the future.

The scene is rich. Lots of collaborations(see shred racers, ironbunny, Saki’s recent show with: Senri Kawaguchi, Gacharic Spin’s Hana, & a bassist from another band), people switching bands, etc. As Hazuki’s band Disqualia stopped working, 3 members (Hazuki, Narumi, RisaRisa) supported LisaX, then Rami (founding Aldious singer), before Narumi put out a solo album, filled in for Aldious (esp in the USA) then was original member of Lonesome Blue. Just from Hazuki alone you get 6(8+?! Depends, do you count Ibanez using her originals to promote their product? etc) projects, including with people like Wakzaemon (Marty Friedman band, East of Eden), Narumi, Saki, Murata Tamu, not to mention the connections of LisaX (see her own recaps: “looking back” on her youth, & q&a) and Kanade Sato (Juna serita, fusion projects, footsteps of SenriK), and even Kotono(IronBunny, babymetal). Each of them is their own rabbit hole!
