For shame! I make how-to (and “what am I doing”) videos in my Facilities Tech role… but NEVER in portrait mode, lol. As a rookie ‘modern’ RV owner (we have a vintage trailer which I’ve done a lot of work on), with the skills and an awesome set of tools, I am learning so much about how these new rigs are put together and how to repair them. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos; I really appreciate it.

I agree, if I bought that unit, I would be months fixing it. Also, I doubt I could fix it as well as you do. I have no experience with that kind of roofing system. The tucked in sides are masterfully done. That roof is better then when it came off the line. No wonder from the videos I seen of that line, it's made the way it is. I won't go there on how it is made :-(

Unfortuately the roof isnt hollow so most toggle type hardwares would require foam to be removed too. And these plates behind the paneling makes a very strong load bearing surface. Most RV manufacturers use similar bracing in walls were furniture or cabinets are mounted. Thanks!

I just recently found you channel and love it. I have a 2007 Winnebago Voyage and I saw where you talked about the the sealant where the roof tucks into the channel goes bad. Mine has almost no sealant left so I am going to reseal it. One problem is right in the middle of the coach the end of the track is sticking out and not attached. I am guessing the screw either was left off or rusted out. How is the best way to reattach. I am worried about trying to pull out and up the fiberglass roof that it might crack. Should I pull out the roof or just maybe put proseal on it and glue to side wall?
@AZExpert

It is screwed down behind the radius you should be able to see it in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/goG1fXmraJWai5Y I would not advise just gluing the rail down if it is that loose. If you don't feel comfortable, I'd take it to a shop. It's worth it to keep the roof from having to be replaced.

I bought an old 89 class c and didn't notice the eternabond on the front cap seal, where you always show it being placed. I know it had leaked in the past 2 owners ago but the last owners never had one. So that probably means the eternabond is about 6 years old. My question is, what do I do if I dig up all that up there and the 2 don't have enough material to overlap? Also is dicor corner seal as bad to use as eternabond to bridge gaps? Im leaving sunny cali soon and heading to we(s)t virginia so I want to tighten things up.

I've discovered significant water damage in the bathroom area during a exhaust fan upgrade of my 99 Adventurer, probable started in the skylight. I'm at a crossroads as to how far to go. On the inside I stripped most of the thin door skin type plywood and now find myself concern that it will no longer be a continues left to right piece. Should I be concerned? Plan is to install a decorative FRP for the ceiling panel. Have been installing sheet metal for the screws on the upper half much like shown in the video. One tip I found is to slightly heat a the sheet metal using a map-gas torch allowing it to slip right in; when it cools it sticks. There seems to be so little about my specific repair and how much of the deteriorated thin plywood can be left in place. Could tackle a more extensive repair if I had a building to do it in.

I have wondered for a few years how my 94 Winnebago roof is made. It looks like it's 2 inches of some adhesive-y foam between two layers of .125 interior glue ply, and that is the whole of the structure/structural integrity of the roof that spans ~96 inches ? I'm 250 pounds american, so I could fall through on a bad day, right? And have you ever fixed a similar roof where the .125 ply has gone bad to any degree, is there a way to restore the structural integrity of the panels to factory specs with some kind of repair? I have seen where some self styled repairman covered the entire roof with .50 nominal OSB or something similar and I wondered how that would work, my impression now is that this probably isn't the most well thought out approach. If you start out with a roof that has whole panels that are structurally defective and should replaced or thoroughly repaired, what do you do? Also, I noticed that my roof has a texture a lot like fiberglass reinforced paneling(?)

I recommend repairing the roof rather than patching or overlaying a bad roof. With a 1994 the decision can be difficult.
