This emu is hit or miss for me. Works on my main PC, but runs into initialization issues on the other. There's also a few bugs with the UI on Windows like the toolbar that keeps on reappearing after disabling it.

Nocturne in the Moonlight Ultimate is my new favorite way to play Symphony of the Night. As for the audio, I've found that Shining Force III is the best for testing. It's one of the best games detecting audio inaccuracies. Other games might sound almost perfect, but with Shining Force III, you can easily detect detuned instruments, improper echo delays, among many other things. And the Premium Disc has a music test accessible from the start. Yaba Sanshiro has been notoriously bad for audio Inaccuracies. That's why I don't normally use it. I'm going to have to check it out and see how much it's been improved.

Games that originally ran on the Sega Saturn in "HD" mode like Virtua Fighter 2 and Virtua Cop, were interlaced internally. Normally, on a CRT TV, this isn't a problem, but if you play those games via an emulator on a modern LCD screen, you get combing artifacts, it's noticeable and very annoying. The only way to "fix" it is for an emulator to upscale the internal resolution of the game to a progressive scan HD resolution. The most accurate SS core on RetroArch is the Beetle core, which doesn't support internal resolution upscaling, so the fact that this emulator (which does) has gotten an update, is very good news! It'll be hard to match the accuracy of the Beetle core (which I think is Mednafen), but for the few games that use SS's HD mode, Yaba Sanshiro is a good emulator to play them on!

I prefer playing all older 3d game consoles at true resolution for various reasons. The art was specifically designed with that resolution in mind and in many cases, it breaks the trickery done to make the art work when you upscale.

I'm 50 years old now, but at the time the Saturn was out, I was failing all of my college classes because of it. lol. CRT good for original hardware but I'm over it now. As long as the resolutions are accurate. Early 3d polygons are sort of this extention of 3d-pixels in a way. The aliasing of diagonal polygon edges blend perfectly with their corresponding similar resolution texture map. That's why it looks weird when you suddenly have sharper edges combined with pixelated texture maps. True resolution and they blend more complimentary.

Sega Saturn has been undefeated since 1994 in complexity. Nothing can tame it! This is the only machine where you seriously need to get the original Sega Saturn, a CRT tv and an ODE.

The previous version had issues on my Windows 11 desktop. Sometimes it would crash without a message. Other times the sound would be stuck in an endless loop and it wouldn’t stop even when I closed the program, forcing me to restart Windows. I hope this update fixes the bugs I had.

Try the 8Bitdo M30 Bluetooth Controller and the 8Bitdo Orange Dongle together for it. It's really a great controller. I use Mednafen too but I knew it wouldn't be long for Android to catch up after that last update on PC.

Unless the games are texture perspective corrected, resolution upscaling only serves to emphasize the texture warping and polygon wobbliness of the original game. In other words, it makes it look uglier. In Duckstation, this resolution bump can also be accompanied by corrected textures, making many games, like Wipeout, way better looking.

Looks very nice. I go back and forth between wanting to upscale and wanting it to look authentic. I think the Kronos emulator also upscales, which is based on Yaba Sanshiro. Alas it isn't compatible with Retroachievements, but obviously that's not a big deal for some people.

I wish the Saturn emulation scene was in a better state. There's several options for software emu, but none of them are great and all have annoying little issues. I'm still waiting for the day we get a standalone, accurate Saturn emulator with good compatibility and a good-looking UI with all the expected emulator features. The Mister core for the Saturn alone is enough to tempt me to get into hardware emu at this point.

FPGA is always better for accuracy with codebase being equal FPGA is like real hardware, software will always have some native latency. Run-Ahead from experience results in skipped frames if beyond 1 frame run ahead. But yeah emulation is fine for most things. I can barely tell the difference on most games. Running on powerful hardware makes a difference. Upgrading from my old i7 7700k to an AMD 7800x3d reduced latency by a lot. But then you have to think if you need powerful hardware for accuracy then FPGA then works out cheaper.

Yabasanshiro is a decent emulator but does have issues. When i tried to use it a week ago it refused to recognise my PS4 controller but since the latest update it now works when emulating the standard controller but still refuses to recognise my PS4 controller when trying to emulate the analogue controller. It also runs extremely slow for me when using OpenGL but runs perfectly fine with Vulkan and it crashes to desktop when i go fullscreen during the Saturn logo animation.

Used to use this emulator on my phone but the app always get auto updated from time to time. The recent update few days back made it impossible for me to start any game. I kept getting an error and couldn't find any solution online. So I had to delete it and move on. Also it would be nice to have mouse to lightgun emulation for the pc version, and touch to lightgun emulation on mobile so that we could play railshooters.

The last time i tested Sega Rally in YabaSanshiro it was a crash fest. Nowadays i prefer Kronos, because of better compatibility (at cost being more power hungry) and runs ST-V (Saturn Arcade) more stable.
