Hello, This is Dave, inventor of the Habistax! I'd like to say a big thanks to Aquarium Adventures for sharing my product. Just to update you all Habistax will be on kickstarter early next week, as well as all other social media and our website will also be live where you can pre-order yours. Not to worry about the instructions, these will all be included in the final packaging 😊 A tip: to make planting easier plants should be placed in pockets prior to adding the capping gravel in the outer chamber. You can also glue epiphytes to the outer wall. Let it establish and you'll be in for a real treat!

Would be very cool, if you designed an airlift into the center of that. Might turn into an excellent filtration option as well.

I've already also patented version 2 of this product (upgraded filtration version) which is in trial at the moment. Sounds like I'm on the right path with this 😊 thanks for your feedback.

Will your final version of this have staggered inserts for the plants?
@TtheFG5 ай бұрын
I could be off, but what came to my mind was, if you had well established roots, you may be able to throw an airline down the middle and it could act as a slight filter, plus all the poo that the plants love would get drawn into where the roots are.

Yes, might have to do some experimenting!

Agreed. That thing is screaming to be diy'd into some kind of hybrid sponge/ugf/living wall type of filter. Stick a piece of pvc tube down the center with lots of holes drilled in it along with an airline and call it a day. Bet it would be a nice esthetic in a bare bottom shrimp tank.

Fun bit of kit. Maybe putting the plants in the plugs as your filling it up? 🤷🏻♂️👍🏻

Good idea, that might work

Makes me think of a herb plant pot, which could also work in a big tank 😊

Oh that's a neat idea! For the small trays sticking out I imagine you want to stick with small plants. I suspect, most stem plants would do well, especially plants like S. repens and Bacopa. I would probably avoid root heavy plants like Crypts, I imagine those will be problematic long term.

Hmmmm, will be good for propogating rhysome plants like the epiphytes, Anubias, Buce, maybe some crypts at the top. Cool

Think it’s a great idea,with planting pockets made a little bigger could be a winner,depends on the price point 👍

ideal for underwater strawberries.

Clever idea , I think it great for someone who isn't a serious aquascaper , as you said you have to wait sometime before it will actually look good in your aquarium. The biggest downfall I think (if this is final product) is the planting pockets not big enough , if slightly larger you would be able to plant larger plants so therefore it wouldn't take so long before it look more natural than industrial.

May be worth them adding a removable plug to the very bottom of the central tube. This would allow the nutrient layer to be replenished with new substrate of mixing in root tabs without completely replanting etc

Do you have a video on the breeder box set up in the back of the tank? I have a custom made one but that one looks much better
@odobenus22215 ай бұрын
It would look less bad if the bottom would be round too

Would like one of these for a shrimp only set up. Plant it, pop it in the middle of the tank and your done. Tried their website but it isn't working unfortunately. Was also thinking if there was a way to attach an airline to the middle section it would work like a sponge filter.

Great idea - might have to have a play around with it!

It is launching soon - need to 'watch this space'

it's the start of a good product. it would be handy if it had another inner tube to maybe hide the heater in.

Ok for a breeder tank but far too ugly for a display tank 😕

I just use a ceramic spire that looks like tree branches, it has many holes in it to put plants into, this way I can move it around when G-Vacuuming. IMO this thing looks absolutely r3tarded.
