A NEW WAY of Looking at Silver

In this video I talk about silver price and how it is currently going up. I talk about a specific tool that I use to look at silver price and gold price as well. This tool is called the gold silver ratio. When comparing gold vs silver it is helpful to look at the ratio which is currently around 85:1. We are then able to look at where the ratio has been in the past and extrapolate where silver needs to go to get to that ratio once again. In the video I look at the gold silver ratio and the highest it has been in the last 45 years as well as the lowest. Silver price would need to go to $36 to reach the highest and $19 to reach the lowest based on the current price of gold. If we look at the lowest the GSR got in 2011 silver would need to go to $74 per oz to be at the same ratio today. This is a new way of looking at silver and gold silver ratio that I have never explored before. What do you think about silver vs gold right now?

Great video- I like your rule of thumb: GSR>80 being the time to exclusively buy silver. But I wonder at what point to do you start trading in silver for gold or vice versa. Taking premiums into account, it must be possible to figure out when it would be profitable to do so, with the caveat that premiums will always fluctuate a bit. Thanks and keep up the great content. Stacking silver at the current ratio. Over this past weekend (May 4th), went to a coin show and loaded up on Mercs and Roosevelts @$90-$95 each. From where I was getting them online, that was about $22 savings on each roll (that includes the $9.95 shipping for purchases under the $200 mark). So, I definitely took advantage of the dip. 👍👍

When my mom passed away last year, she left a modest amount of constitutional silver that both my parents had been saving, plus 3 gold coins. That got me interested in precious metals and started researching constitutional silver. It was a lot of fun. Beginning a few weeks ago, began watching Silver Dragons and Silver Seeker videos. I found my “why” (long term investing) and I bought 4 tubes of silver eagles yesterday (5/9/24). I plan to sell the constitutional silver and am planning to buy another 2 or three tubes of silver eagles, then settle down some and continue buying at a slower pace, watching these ratios. I’ll buy silver above a S/G ratio of 80, a combination of silver and gold when the ratio is between 60 and 80 and purchase gold below a S/G ratio of 60. When my wife and I retire in about 15 years, I’m hoping that my efforts will be rewarded as I cash out.

Not many dealers will swap gold for silver without the premiums, they typically want you to sell for cash then buy with cash and the dealers win on the premiums!

Great advice. I use it all the time for deciding which metal to buy. However I haven't used it to trade between metals. It sounds good if it was a straight up trade, but you have to consider the difference in premiums.

Only been paying attention to metals/coin collecting for about 4 months. But the price of gold vs silver - free precious metal vs another, has been nagging at me. I knew it wouldn't be linear. I have stacked mostly Silver & Gold 75% of my currrent stackssss, all pre 1993. But prices were lesser. THE GSR or the SGR swap is a great tool... Also bought 65 acres in VERMONT with ASEs & $35k cash! One of my best deals in my 66 yrs of life... Been stackin since 1978, started with Industrial .999 Silver pours and Mining bars... Coin shows and occasional LCSs had been my. The ebay then my mouth to mouth neteowrk developed 1980-1990-2000-2010 Im still at it . I was lucky to find, & did 2 GSR swaps in 2011>> Silver for Gold, 42;1 and then again @ 47:1, was happy to trade literally thousands of ASEs for a small H E A V Y box of Au, a few hundred tozs of .999 gold! Except you shouldn't put yourself in a position where your house being robbed would bankrupt you. Holding metals should be a diversification of your wealth to protect you against hyper inflation and banks going bust. Not a different basket to put all of your eggs in. So you have to think about what you can 'afford' to spend on stacking, but also think about what you can 'afford' to lose.

I started stacking 4 years ago. I bought all my silver at the low point in March 2020. I was "lucky" and had been meaning to buy for many years and timed it 100% perfectly! So it has gone up 100% since then. But then I only bought gold, dollar cost averaging ie when I had some "spare cash" I'll not buy silver again unless there is a massive drop, I prefer preservation of wealth and purchasing power over a speculative play, even though I know that silver is volatile and will explode past gold one day. Be safe, that is the purpose of PMs
