I use grams as the universal metric for anything that deviate from a (troy) ounce, you can divide the spot price by 31.1 to get the gram price and the piece in question you just take the price and divided by whatever amount of grams it weighs and you can compare that, or you can multiply the gram price from the non standard piece with 31.1 to get the troy ounce price if you prefer to compare that. And while I do own some half ounce coins I generally prefer whole ounces and try to avoid anything lower than a half ounce unless it is a historical coin or what you call "junk" silver in America I guess

Being in pharmaceuticals, these equivalencies are natural for me, but for everyone to understand is so helpful. People who wanna sell silver need to use "silver speak". It just works better for everyone to be on the same page. Maybe less scams would occur.

Well, there’s more to red quarters than just that in Boy Scouts you paint the quarter RED and at the scout meeting that night you would sneak around and put it in other Boy Scouts pockets you had to remember to check your pockets all night and if you had it in your pocket, you would try to sneak it in someone else pocket because if you was the one stuck with the quarter at the end of the night you had to do some thing, embarrassing or work out or something like that ever want the Scott leader came up with that week, so it was like a game for Boy Scouts

And 30 years later, I went metal detecting at our old scout place and found a bunch of them. My dad was a scout leader and he passed away five years ago, so it was awesome fine for me.

What baffles me the most is why OZT isn't stamped on any of the coins that bear this weight. It would alleviate a lot of confusion for those just starting out in stacking or collecting.

The 1/4 pound coin that said it was 3.65 troy ounces was an actual AVDP 4 ounces, or a quarter of AVDP pound, if you do the math by converting it to grams. Whoever produced that didn't use troy ounces OR troy pounds to weigh it. But, the seller is being more honest by giving you the "standard" weight in troy ounces for a precious metal.

Companies always use wording as a partial scam because nothing is definitive. Wordings might not be intentional to trick you, but companies will utilize it to their advantage. Also its not just the different terms of weights that trick you, there are certain silver bullion that have other metal compositions of copper and nickel that can make up about 10% or more, but they still term it as just 1 oz.

You mean a price tag for 25 dollars? If I'm understanding you, you mean to say there was like a variety of rounds for twenty five dollars each? If that's the case, they were selling single troy oz rounds of silver for 25 dollars each.

The government has a vested interest in the "confusion" of money and currency. They WANT you to think that the fiat currency they produce (or have produced by a third party) is money. If they let commoners learn the difference, there might be trouble. That's why they also try to make people believe that inflation is normal, and a lack of inflation is abnormal. And especially if there is deflation that it's a BAD thing. If you know anything at all about money, you know that's the opposite of the truth.
