APBA Brian, I'm with you regarding the baseball game. Not that I am put off by statistics and such (my university degree is economics and I enjoy charts, tables and mathematic formula work) but when it comes to relaxation games, beer and pretzels if you like are the best.) A fast moving (compared to APBA basketball.😉) game that retains accurate stats results over a season of play. Enjoy your Vlogs. All the best.

You just added a tad more realism to an already great game! Thanks for the tip. BTW, I started playing APBA in 1966 and haven’t stopped since.

What a genius idea now that I think about it. All I have are original seasons so I will have to look to get a newer season with the master symbols on the cards.

Yes, This fix isn't good for the old classic APBA cards. However I still like and use the old classic APBA cards!

There is a British company called Lambourne that made interesting board games, based on team and player statistics, on Soccer, Rugby, and Cricket.

Thank you for the video! I love classic ABPA Basic and have just gone back to playing it exclusively after more than 30 years away from the game. The lack of lefty/righty splits had always been something that I did not like but your rules look great! I am going to incorporate them into my gameplay. Do you still follow the basic game grade bump up for mid-inning relievers who pitch to their first batter when same-sided? I am assuming you would use your formula and add or subtract from that bumped up-first batter upgrade?
@jbneely3 Жыл бұрын
Yes I do still follow the basic game rules for bump up with mid inning relievers. This morning I will be on Replay Gamers channel at 8:30 or 9am CST talking about APBA with Stephen. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Hi Brian, I like this. If a batter has a high minus number (23-27), a pitcher can go from a D to an AB?
@jbneely3 Жыл бұрын
That's right! I don't think I have seen a split like that. When there is a 3-7 move the letter grade 1, 8-12 move 2, 13-17 move 3, 18-22 move 4, and 23 or more move 5.

Thanks. I think I remember someone who had a minus 19 on a lefty-leftry.

If you ask for the Marino boards on Delphi Forums - APBA Between the Lines, I’m pretty sure someone would be able to help you get them.
@jbneely3 Жыл бұрын
Hi Ron, I have them. Sometimes they are called the OZ boards. I just downloaded the APBA ABNRML Boards and plan to play them a few times offline to get used to them and maybe introduce them to my channel. I usually broadcast with Basic as it is easier when I am doing KZbin. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I really like this idea! I'm assuming it would also work if I were to add/subtract the left/right split number to/from the pitcher's numerical grade, and then use that total to determine the letter grade based on the range it falls into?
@jbneely3 Жыл бұрын
I think so. I do play this way sometimes when I am calling the games so that I am not doing the math in my head.
@johnbowen6443 Жыл бұрын
I like this way to bring splits into the basic. Have you found a way to bring stealing decisions into basic?
@jbneely3 Жыл бұрын
Not a good one short of rating the players yourself for the steal letter and success number. You could look up what your fastest players steal ratings would be on Steve's compuduck website and use the master steal chart.

I forget when but for some time now Master Pitching grades have been down shifted by 1. So D:1-4, C:5-9, B:10-14, A:15-19, A&C:20-24, A&B:25-30

Any suggestions on how to use this with single BC master symbols?
@jbneely32 жыл бұрын
I should probably know what you are referring to "single BC master symbols? If it is something to do with the master charts, I have no experience there.
@justinludwig7262 жыл бұрын
@@jbneely3 on newer cards there are two numbers at the bottom, +/- against lefties and righties. Older master symbol cards have one, when a batter faces a pitcher from the same side.
@jbneely32 жыл бұрын
OK, you plugged me in now. The single BC numbers card sets only improve the Pitcher's rating, so consider these only when the batter and pitcher are same-sided. otherwise ignore the single BC number. Considering the above apply the same principle as shown in the video applies. Thank you for bringing that up, I forgot those card sets (pre 1994) when I made the video.

So as an example, say I have a +8 divided by 5 is 1.6, would I make that 2 pitcher grades since 1.6 is rounded to 2 or keep it at just 1?
@jbneely32 жыл бұрын
Yes. That is what I do.
@erose9642 жыл бұрын
Funny. Which is it?
@moedean33422 жыл бұрын
@@erose964 It has got to be you round up. So, for instance if you get 0.6 you go to 1. by the time you can even round up to 2 you have to get a +8 or -8 on the batter card. Hard for a batter to get that high. 8 is already a pretty bad batter facing the pitcher from that side of the plate. There are batters of course that get that high, but it's rarer. So, 8 divided by 5 is 1.6, round up to 2.
@jbneely32 жыл бұрын
@@moedean3342 sorry for not being very clear. It should be 2 pitcher grades for 1.6.

Hey Brian, I like your idea, But how do you plan on degrading a starting pitcher with a grade D? I think what I would do is, You have more flexibility changing the number grade rather than the letter grade. That’s how the Marino boards came about, So basically you would be making your own lefty Righty Matrix if you didn’t have the Marino boards. Thanks my friend, Hope your feeling better.
@jbneely32 жыл бұрын
No grades lower than D, so the degrading stops there.
