Lily I’ve been following you for nearly 13 years and never been an active commenter but I just had to comment on this and let you know how lovely it is to see your honesty. It’s really refreshing to have someone on the internet be open and honest about how they are feeling about life and an unedited real home. Thank you for being you. 😊

Hi Lily , Happy New Year. I have been watching you for at least 10 years and you are the only KZbinr I have followed for this long. I find your content to be extremely authentic and relatable. You have managed to keep grounded and real despite all the changes in "influencer culture." I personally find the social media content being produced by others is out of line with most people's reality. Regarding goals, always ask yourself what's your "why." With anything you do, keep an authentic motive at the centre. I look foward to more of your content, and I wish you all the best for 2024.🎉

You’re absolutely right in one respect about brand loyalty, we all shop around. However it is a huge part of your job to sell us stuff from brands, so we have to know that it’s worth it. As long as it feels authentic then it works but some influencers will promote different skincare brands month by month for example and that’s when the whole culture of influencing seems so fake and contrived.

Happy new year! Haha loved the home update. Reminded me of my house 10 years ago. The best thing I did was full wall of storage. Honestly, turn that bench into full wall to ceiling storage. Made such a differnce to be able to put everything in a cupboard at the end of the day and pretend to be child free when everyone in bed. Bliss. Another 5 years and it will get better. Now it's just computer games and clothes lol

Love the dose of realism with the toys!! Pre kids, I had an old chest that I thought all the toys would live in in my living room(don’t have w playroom either)… how wrong was I! But like you, the toys are there, they have a space (that is visible) and as long as they go back there at the end of the day I can live it! x

Lily, re your question about using pickle juice for cooking - I use it all the time! A dash of pickle juice/caper brine/jalap juice works so well to build flavour in soups, stews, stirfrys and also serves as a perfect salad dressing base. Sometimes I use up the juice quicker than the actual pickles now 🤦

Thanks for the chat about new year resolutions/goals and fear of failure if those are not reached, can relate so much. thanks for not putting up a front, the hamster wheel feeling is real. Yeah 2023 was a really hard year for me personally. My best friend passed away suddenly and my grandfather passed and my grandmother has terminal cancer. Absolute disaster and chaos in my head, totally overwhelmed for most of the year. So we know 2024 will be a hard year but I am determined to make it a year worth while because my child is five and she deserves it! Thank you for sharing I feel like it does make a difference when you show the real you. With that being said you obviously get to decide how much you share, boundaries are very important! Also I feel you on the goals situation! I feel like I also need to work out what I want. It's not always obvious! Happy new year ❤

Yesssss to the bench in the dining room. Make the fabric really durable and even have it go up the wall just a bit. I recommend making the bench deep and comfy. Even if it sticks out from the wall, it's more comfortable for sitting at a table.

And you will miss the toys being EVERYWHERE!!! My boys are 6 and 4 and I try and tell myself this every morning. God I hope its ture!! Also kids can be taken out of school up until the school term they turn 5 also the fine is £120 so it's still worth pulling them out of school a week earlier than school holidays!!!

I love this vlog-so real! I’m a mom of three and can definitely agree it is more fun with multiple children. I just wanted to say to make sure you enjoy this time since kids grow up so fast and I miss the mess and chaos now that my kids are older (21, 19 and 14 now😱). I recommend taking the kids on trips on the week before breaks since it’s cheaper and kids don’t miss much at school when they’re that young (you could ask for the schoolwork to take on holiday too). Also, I’m the same way with goals and not liking them because I’m afraid to fail. I’m doing “intentions” this year which I recommend for you as well.😉 Happy new year Lily!!!

Nice to see you back, went back and watched some that I’d missed over the break. We only have a standard 3 bedroom small house and when our kids were small we put their toys in their bedroom once they hit a certain age (maybe 3 or 4) and they could bring some down to play with but they would go back in their room at night. Just helps keep your space looking like your space. Think we had a small selection downstairs in a cute box. Mine are 25 and 20 which is crazy as it feels like 2 minutes ago!! Xx

For your dinning room/table situation, if you don't want to commit to a built-in bench, pretty sure you can buy and actual bench (or other sitting options of that sort) designed for this purpose. :) Although, I don't know what would be cheaper, but yeah, corner, L-shaped, etc. benches have been around forever. I even remember one from my childhood in our first family home kitchen!😃
