Just snatched a TMC weathered one for 170£ on their website. Looks and runs stunningly according to your showcase.

That's quite a good price for it, and glad that the engine is as good as how I showcase it!

Very true, though I am in need of more storage space, same for all the rolling stock I've got! But do have plans for that, and glad you enjoyed the video!

Hi James. My model (exactly the same as yours) arrived a few days ago - all I have to do now is lay some track! I like the green, but would have preferred yellow lining. I'm glad to hear that (your) model is quiet - I hope mine will be, too. Considering that the model not only came with a DCC decoder, including sound functions, and it also came with a speaker, the extra £70 was a bargain. Expect to pay about £100 for a similar setup on other locos. I bought mine as a pre-order from Rails of Sheffield for £212.45 (and it didn't go up in price when it was despatched!).

Hello Paul, Glad yours arrived as well! I don't mind the shade of green, think I'm just use to Dapol's shade of the livery (do wish they'd standardise between companies but that'll never happen heh), and good to know how much a similar setup would cost on other locos, but do like to mention how much the difference is compared to the standard version. When I originally pre-ordered the loco (when it was announced) it was just under the £200 mark (or there abouts) for retail price, did get an email not too long ago that it did go up in price to what you paid, I just tend to round up when I don't remember the exact number heh

Great Video - I have also purchased this model and delighted with it. This is my second sound loco and the other being a Castle and I am pleased that the two locos have a different sound effects which of course reflects the true thing. Thanks for the tip about the breaking because I was puzzled about that function. I too have limited functions on my DCC controller but the first ten functions are ok for me to be getting on with. Thanks very much for this video which I have found to be useful and I have decided to subscribe to the channel. Cheers

First of all, glad you like the video Malcolm and glad that you found it useful (also cheers very much for the sub!), and yeah I was very much confused at first about how to use the brakes, might be more functions like that. And glad that the DCC-Sound Castle does sound different, I'm not sure if my Castle is able to have sound in it (not sure if there's a speaker), though will have to check now as I'm sure my dad would enjoy it (as he prefers GWR locos)

@@GosportRailworks You are most welcome and thanks for the reply! The Castle is absolutely fantastic but not sure I can keep buying the sound locos! I meant to say the the new loco might have been better with black smoke detectors but then we can't have everything can we? To be perfectly honest I just cannot stop playing with them because it is just like driving the real thing. Cheers

No worries Malcolm, and I know what you mean, you'd always like to have more but the cost is a bit steep! I'd say just keep it at the two you've got so far and treat sound as something special! And I do agree the smoke deflectors would've looked better in black, though I do remember seeing pics of them when first fitted in a green. Was tempted in repainting them but figured best to keep as is (and less chance of ruining the model that way). And I should run mine more often, might do a video of it on it's own sometime with full sound!

Hello, great layout. Is it built into a bunk bed? That's very clever. The darker olive is correct for a south eastern loco. Sometimes known as Ashford green :)

Glad you like my layout and it is indeed built on a bunk bed! And I thought it was a variant of the usual Southern Green, do quite like it, slowly getting use to the green smoke deflectors too heh

Oh, by the way - See one of Uncle Stephen's (Elvenhome) recent videos for details of how he used the braking function to bring his loco to a controlled stop (what "other" DCC controller do you have?)
@GosportRailworks
@GosportRailworks 3 жыл бұрын
I did work out that one after the video was recorded, as had a play around with it after putting the camera away, to use the brakes it's first cut power then use the brake function and then it'll come to a more prompt stop, do need to take the brake off again before getting back underway again! Tis my first DCC Sound loco so wasn't expecting that was how to bring the engine to a quick stop, cheers for letting me know though!

@@GosportRailworks Thought it might be useful. I didn't realise you also had to release the brake, so thanks for that.

No worries, always good to be sure everyone knows, and yeah you need to release the brake, else you'll end up like me wondering why it isn't moving for about five minutes heh

Can it go around first radius?
@GosportRailworks
@GosportRailworks 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry bout the late reply, just checked with a bit of track from my Seaside Excursion set (only first radius track I've got) and it seems happy with it, you've got a couple of millimetres of gap between the loco and the tender, it should be fine but would still recommend some caution to be on the safe side. Hope that helps!

Have posted a video and some pics of the N Class going round first radius on my Instagram account, though might see if the video would work as a KZbin short (never tried them before so worth a shot!), anyway the video is the last thing in the stack if you click the right arrow a few times, hope that helps! instagram.com/p/CTP4MClorB_/
