You are a star Ron, keeping us up to date on the local projects, you have some good sources. Loved the trackbed search and walk, although when you took the diversion I noticed it was all downhill which meant you had some climbing to do to get back at the end of the day. The accommodation bridge is probably the best I have seen, very high status. Looking forward to you next adventure. Ron

Thanks, Ron. It was a bit of a hike, but the weather was very favourable. There was a pheasant shoot in progress over on the Salperton Estate, but nobody goes down in that cutting so I was confident I wouldn’t be seen. Planning a walk down into Hampen Hill cutting soon. That one is deeper and longer than this one, but logistically quite difficult to access. Stay warm. Ron.

@@abandonedrailwaya2470 Hi Ron, I would have put my hanky on a stick and waved it about by that pheasant shoot! Every time you mention a new film I can't imagine that it can be better than the current one, but some how you always manage to pull it off. No preasure. Be careful. Ron

Hi Ron, Happy New Year!! Thanks for the updates and setting the scene for this one. That was quite some embankment, really deep. Very interesting to see an aqueduct too, loved the fade in of the train just before this part. The bridge at the end was in excellent condition and interesting to see that they opted for two lateral semi-arches instead of infilling. You did leave me wondering how you were going to get out though!! All the best!!

Happy New Year, David. Yes, that was a rather impressive bridge. There is another cutting, further on, to be explored, and that one is longer and deeper, and another SSSI. Watch this space. Cheers. Ron.🙂

Very interesting exploration. Apart from the broad-guage fence posts, the former aqueduct is an intriguing find - I wonder if it's still in water - and the occupation bridge is massive and also looks in very good condition. Heartening news that a Greenway from Cheltenham to Bourton may be a serious possibility. I would imagine it would be very popular - although I sense that the 'shooting fraternity' might not feel the same way. Thanks for your intrepid expeditions and inquiries.

Hi, Malcolm. Yes, that aqueduct is intriguing and I wonder how they prevented the water freezing in winter. Asbestos lagging perhaps? The bridge is currently on Network Rail’s maintenance program, and has recently been inspected by Sustrans, so that one is to be retained. Thanks for your comments. Take care. Ron

Just discovered your channel. I always enjoyed walking the Alcester - Bearley line, it was quite damaging when the line closed and shut off many small communities from one another. You can still walk under and over the bridges and are most sections are quite well preserved and walkable. You should check it out. Subbed.

Happy New Year, Glynn. Looks like the first steam excursion through our area will be March 16th. Northampton to Worcester. Outward bound to West London, Oxford, and down the Cotswold Line. Then back through the Stroud Valley, Sapperton Bank etc. Not sure which loco. and no timings as yet. Cheers. Ron

Just found your channel. Very interested in the proposed Greenway from Cheltenham to Bourton. Is there anywhere promoting this project? Thanks for all your hard work.

@@rickorider very limited information. I know Sustrans are assessing bridges on the route. I’m guessing it’s still at a very early stage of assessment. Bourton to Kingham is also being planned as a Greenway. Land owners are being consulted on proposals to reopen that section of line too. I have contact with the person heading up the project, but haven’t heard from him for a while with an update. Thanks for commenting and welcome to the channel. If I get any updates I will post them asap.🙂
