And for those who are saying people in the diaspora like her should go back and build Africa, with the endemic entrenched curruptive practices and tyrant leaders who refuse to give up power, I think not. Kemi is here in Britain that's where her focus should be fighting for betterment of black and white british people.

Kemi has links to both Nigeria and Britain and no one can take that away from her. Congrats to her to get to where she is through hard work and perseverance in what is generally a male dominated sphere. That said, I don't think Britain is ready for another female PM after the abysmal performance of Liz Truss and team more so one of African decent. On the flip side, could be a highly strategic move to help strengthen diplomatic relations with Nigeria given the role and position in Africa despite the overly negative press which is mostly "surface propaganda" but with insidious reaches. Good luck to her.

Actually Segun, Nigerian 1999 Constitution, as amended, recognizes dual citizenship. See Sections 28, and 29. A child one of whose parents, or grandparents is indigenous indigenous to any community of Nigeria, irrespective of where that child is born, as is Kemi, born in the UK, is a Nigerian citizen. See: Section 25(1). There is nothing stopping such a child from renouncing in prescribed manner their Nigerian citizenship See: Section 29(1). She is definitely a Nigerian. Both her parents are Nigerian. By virtue of Section 25(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended requires only one parent, or grandparent to be indigenous to any community in Nigeria before the date of independence is a Nigerian. Alternatively by Section 25(1)(b) a child either of whose parents, or grandparents is a citizen of Nigeria after 1st October 1960 (date of independence) is a Nigerian by birth. The only thing that will deprive such a child Nigerian citizenship is if such a child exercises the right to renounce Nigerian citizenship in prescribed manner under Section 29(1) of the Nigerian Constitution. I am not aware Kemi has renounced her Nigerian citizenship bequeathed to her as a child of both her Nigerian parents. Are you aware of, and have evidence Kemi has renounced her Nigerian citizenship? @@obinnaezealah2465 Okay, that makes sense. And thanks for being a gentleman/lady with your response. While I agree with what you said, I have heard her talk about her Nigerian roots a lot. Here, most people who follow her know of her Nigerian origin. Nigerians here talk about her all the time, and she has never denied being Nigerian (not to my knowledge anyway). Plus she has referenced Nigeria a lot in interviews. So, while she might serve the British people, Nigerians should still be allowed to say she is one of them. She did grow up in Nigeria after all, and left when she was 16. Whether born in England or holidaying in America doesn't change that. You're most likely a white person judging by "the color of their skin" statement, so I will forgive you your ignorance. The person in question has gone on record talking about growing up in Nigeria and how it affected her. She even lived there with her parents until she was 16. But because she was born here in England then she is not Nigerian? So it is okay to say she is British but not okay to say she is Nigerian? You people only like to claim blacks that behave progressively. Years ago a black British man assaulted a white store owner and the headlines read "Nigerian man attacks old woman..." even though this person had never been to Nigeria or identified as one. You cannot pick and choose my dear, that's not how it works. And if you're African you'll understand culture and heritage is everything.
