Mrs Nkrumah was a head in that school for a very long time during the 90s. She was such a disciplinarian. I really like the school for the discipline and excellence they stand for.

People normally call it SOS but the actual name is Herman Gmeiner. The SOS orphanage is attached to it

Lily, I think it was established for SOS children villages. SOS children villages are facilities that take care of orphans and children whose parents are not able to care for them all over the world. There is one in Tema where this school is also located.

@johnboateng184 STOP being ignorant! SOS has another village in Tema. The school is originally for them for free. But because the school is very good, there are non SOS parents who are willing to pay hefty fees to enroll their wards.

Lily the International schools are public in admission but private in fees payment. They are: 1. Tema S.O.S 2. The French School, East Legon 3. The Swiss and German School 4. Galaxy International School, Airport Residential 5.Lincon International, Ablemkpe Accra. 6. Ghana International School These schools do International baccalaureate courses.. meaning students are geared to attend American and European Univ. They do not write WAEC or WASSCE.They write either International baccalaureate exams as well as GCE A-Level

There is also International Community School(ICS) in East Legon that does the British educational system. It is even top in terms of performance than GIS but they are more of newbies than GIS.

The school fees is currently 98,000.00 cedis per semester. Almost a 100,000.00 per semester. It is owned by SOS Children's Villages International. It is important to note that it is note managed by SOS Children's Villages Ghana.

The presenter is wrong and totally wrong in saying ADOWA is for the Ashantis. ADOWA is for all the AKAN ethnic group. EG...Akyem, Akwapims, Ashantis, Kwahus, Fantes, Bonos and Nzemas. All l can say further is, it's been played slightly different by each set. AKPE

Based on my experience, students from these schools tend to lack respect at the tertiary level. They are unable to proudly represent their school and may find it challenging to form connections and cliques. Many Ghanaian students prefer to hear about more renowned high schools. In contrast, students from established high schools may have better support and backing for important positions at university, in my opinion.

The other SOS schools outside greater Accra are for orphans but the one in tema is an international school, even though it also an sos school, it for the rich and middle class Ghanaians.

No, it doesn't work like that. All of them are not orphans. There's a quota for fee paying students, of which the higher fees charged is used to supplement the cost for none paying students which makes alot of sense.

"ADOWA" Dance is an Akan Tribe dance and culture and NOT an Asante dance. Still In 2024, Most Ghanaians don't know that Asante is NOT a Tribe...it's just a name for a Group of Akan clans who came together to form a Union- Called Asante. It's Like Saying everything in AFRICAN UNION comes from or Belongs to Ghana Alone.

I would have agreed with you if you had told me "Adowa" comes from one of the clans that formed Asante Union and the rest of the Clans Copied or followed. From what I know "Adowa" comes from Denkyira and Amanse3 ( bekwai area now Member of Asante) to mimic the dance of deer used to be performed by Akan hunters. That said Most Akans customs, traditions, customs, cheiftance came from Denkyira and one old Akan clan- Adansi.

Even most dont know that the whole of Ahafo- From Bechem-Nkwanta to Tepa to Goaso to Hwidiem, Mim to Sankore etc belongs to Anyin/Sefwi kingdom. Asantes captured the lands from king Ebiri Moro when Anyi attacked the newly formed Asantes unions capital of Kumasi after the death of Osei Tutu. It was Opoku Ware 1 who gathered an army to repel the Anyins and then most of the Anyins retreated to Ivory Coast and the Asantes settles on their lands. Even the some Banda people were there before Asantes. And oh not long ago I heard some Sefwis and Little Aryins in Ghana were talking about taking their lands back and this could bring a civil war oneday. The original Asante border ends somewhere at Mankraso/Kunsu area

You people are just silly. Asantes, Adansi, Akwamu, Denkyira are all one group of people. They all used to stay together in the Denkyira Adansi area. All their culture and customs are similar and since Denkyira is where they all moved from, it can be said that Denkyira is the custodian of the customs and traditions of this group. In the past, all these groups used to send their princes to Denkyira to learn tradition and customs. Which is why Osei Tutu I was in Denkyira before becoming the Kumasehene and later Asantehene. Adowa dance is a dance for the group. The group is also part of a larger ethnolinguistic group called the Akan which is identified by the "Kwa" language. Remember, Akan is an ethnolinguistic group so while the members of the group share similarities in language, they may differ on other cultural aspects. Akan ethnolinguistic group includes Fantes, Akuapim, Ahafo, Nzima, etc.
