I love Nightmare on Elm Street! I think the biggest problem that plagues any sequel or requel is that Freddy is not easily replaced by any other actor. Robert Englund is so iconic, to make it work you'd have to have him in the role. That being said, I really like your idea for a requel and it's a great way to bring back Nancy. I think Freddy will also need to return to his darker roots like he was in the original or even New Nightmare and his kills should be more brutal.

Damn this is actually pretty solid. I think Wes Craven's estate regaining the rights to the original 84 film is what is holding up New Line from making a new movie, who still own the rights to the rest of the franchise. Regardless I hope they get a new movie out sometime, same with Friday the 13th. Shame on Paramount for dropping the ball so many times on their reboot.

I personally have an idea for a sequel that only ignores Freddy vs Jason. It reveals that since Freddy's Dead, his spirit, depicted as a decrepit and feeble version of Freddy, is bound to 1428 Elm Street, in both the waking and dream worlds. In the waking world, Springwood is an abandoned town surrounded by miles of barbwired fences. In the dream world, the house exists in a blank void but as a TARDIS-like entity, bigger on the inside. And now Freddy is told by the Dream Demons that if he doesn't kill the survivors of his past sprees his powers will be stripped of him and given to a new Nightmare Avatar. Thus, the past survivors (Jesse, Alice, Yvonne, etc) and their descendants, including Freddy's grandson, are brought back to the house and now the final battle begins. If Freddy wins, his powers will be increased and the dreams of the world's population will be his dominion. If he fails, we'll basically get a new NOES villain.

I already thought of a teaser trailer for a Nightmare Requel The trailer starts with a front view of a house (Nancy's House) we see a window and outside is heavy wind blowing tree branches up and down, we Pan down to the floor and we glide to the bed up moving upwards, and we hear voices that are slowly getting louder, we see a girl sleeping in her bed as the voices become clear the voices say "1 2 Freddy's Coming For You" as that happens we slowly see Freddy coming out of the wall a recreation of the original, the screen cuts to black and in white letters is a release date then it fades then more white letters appear and it says #freddyscomingforyou And that's how I would do a teaser for a Nightmare Requel

I like the concept of the kids sleep to torment and bully Freddy. As one of the kids feels sorry for Freddy and gets too close as he befriends him, Freddy kills him as a first nod to evil and a first gain of soul power. Then freddy's new powers gives strength enough to start haunting and killing his tormentors.

I made a fan script a couple years back that would have worked if they decided to make a new trilogy that would take place in the cannon with 1-6. Freddy killed all the "Elm Street children" but what was to stop the surviving parents from having more? Especially after Alice locked the door on him. So mine was basically Kristen's estranged father has another child later in life who had a similar ability, but his was to travel into other people's dreams. After his fathers death, he becomes distant and rebellious, and stops taking his medications (hypnosyl) while accidentally unlocking the door that cages Freddy. It would also bring Nancy back about half way through, who has been kept alive in the dream world.

They could easily get previous actors from the other films but not Robert since he said himself that he is too old to play Freddy. If they do decide to bring the franchise back they better bring back the best aspect of the films which is the creativity with the kills/dreams ever since dream warriors the kills were the most iconic or really unique examples would be the puppet kill, welcome to prime time bitch kill, that drug overdose with those nasty mouths on the arm, Sheila getting the life sucked out of her, cockroach kill, Dan’s motorcycle death, Greta’s disgusting death, and Mark’s comic book world death. How about a sly reboot where the movie is advertised as The Hat Man? Closer to the release date, the title would fully be revealed as The Hat Man: A Nightmare on Elm St. Story. You'd find out Nancy is running a Dream Clinic studying the phenomenon of the Hat Man and sleep paralysis as well as sleep induced comas, and how cases are increasingly growing in the past couple of decades. See Nancy didn't die; She was put into a decade long coma. One of the Dream Warriors surviving cast members dies of strange circumstances, so the group gets together for a funeral with some spouses and children thrown in for canon fodder. Bodies start dropping left and right, so the group naturally thinks it's Freddy. They even see him in their Nightmares, so they return to the sight where Freddy was buried. Nothing seems out of the normal. The ground even has a church built over it that one of them commissioned. The Nightmares don't stop though. Only after Nancy and one of the Dream Warrior's college aged child, our Final Girl, are left, we find out the person behind these recent murders is an entity only known as the Hat Man played by Kevin Bacon. The Hat Man was using Nancy and people like her that have succumbed to sleep based comas and deaths to increase his influence in the world. Fear used to play a great motivator for ancient peoples, but people have gotten complacent and lazy. They now make stupid mistakes that lead to their deaths that contribute nothing to the zeitgeist of society. After the entity's Bond monologue, Nancy commits some sort of sacrifice of her own accord to save the Final Girl who has the Hat Man on the ropes at this point. Because Nancy made the choice to sacrifice herself, it gives the Hat Man no power and dissipates. Final Girl holding a dead or comatose Nancy cries as the credits roll. Post credit scene is of a creepy man picking out a hat while looking through a window at some kids across the street on a playground with a street sign the reads Elm St. Thinking the Final Girl could be Kincaid's Grandaughter played by Zendaya. And, the post credits villain could be Jamie Campbell Bower, and maybe there could references to said killings in the movie

It doesn't work. The thing about horror is that it's a reflection of the consciousness of the times. In the late 70s early 80s, a man in a mask was terrifying because women were so unempowered. With Freddy, he was the culmination of a generation that could not relate to their parents at all. They had never been the kids' age. They were a different species. They had to be hiding a deep, dark secret that is just unspeakable. Today's kids don't have that dynamic with their parents. So Freddy would either have to change COMPLETELY or it just wouldn't work. That's the real reason the remakes didn't work. Friday OR NOES. We love them, but they don't fit this time, this culture, this mentality. So find a new franchise. Let it go.

OK, I'd like to know why Nancy's house seems to be the focal point of Freddy's location when it has nothing really to do with Freddy himself. Freddy didn't live there, Nancy did. Just because it was a main location as the main character's home in the original, it became this iconic "Freddy's House" thing. it's never mentioned in any of the films or scripts as to why this house is the "Freddy" house. Now - if someone would simply come up with a good reason why the house is so prominent. 🔪🔪🔪🔪

It's not a bad idea. It feels sort of like an updated spin on NOES 2 and 3, with someone new moving into the house and discovering what happened to Nancy, while experiencing those same issues themself, and then having Nancy actually return. The ending does feel really sad, having Freddy do all of this to lure Nancy back and then trap her inside the dream world, almost feels like he's won. It's sort of down beat, for me. A concept I thought of was the film surrounding mother and daughter, and the daughter meeting and starting to be terrorized by Freddy. It's revealed later that she's Nancy's grand daughter. Nancy tells her daughter finally whats going on when she realizes what's happening to her GD, and Nancy tells her daughter that she gave her hypnocil into her teens, so that she could remain under the radar from Freddy. Then borrowing from your idea, the whole thing was a ruse to get Nancy back. There's a showdown. The house burns down. Michael burns insi-- I mean, wait... I have to rethink this.

As much as I admire this idea. It’s been done already. It’s literally the same as Halloween, Scream and the new Texas Chainsaw. Nancy coming back to Elm Street would be a very predictable story. I think we basically need Robert as Freddy. An incredible script and some horrific scares / dream sequences. I also think that maybe setting the film in the 80’s / 90’s could work. Has anyone seen ‘X’ lately? That film really captured the 1970’s.

@@eron8937 Jackie did a marvelous job but no matter who we pick, many say only Robert can do it. Even if he died tomorrow, they would still demand that he plays Freddy.

Instead of another film, why not have Robert Englund be back as Freddy in a Nightmare On Elm Street series that's actually canon with the previous films in the franchise and possibly even Freddy Vs. Jason??? In the same fashion as Chucky tv series? The 80's Freddy's Nightmares Elm Street series imo I don't think was canon with the films anyways so why not redo a new series that actually IS with the films with Englund more involved in as many episodes than he'd be able to do in a film as Freddy? Plus if we'll written and things worked out between New Line, The Craven Estate, and Paramount, maybe get a Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash sequel in film or that too could be done within episodes of a Mini Series Special or something. Imo, they can still make more Jason films after events of Freddy Vs. Jason's events. Because they just not include the Friday The 13th in the title and it would be easy to make a few more films in between Freddy Vs. Jason & the beginning of Jason X .

I reckon you could do a requil and include the previous movies. Just have an original movie, have Freddy haunt the fuck out our main character leading them to research and find articles of teens being found in their waterbeds or deaths at western hills ect. You’d just have to sacrifice Nancy being there The other films deserve their time to shine too
