A Nomad Challenge playthrough of Conan Exiles

Wak, thanks for making some more CE content. It's always fun to watch you play CE. I checked the CE Wiki. Technically, a Wheel of pain is a building structure, not a crafting station. However, a stable and animal pens are crafting stations. So in keeping with the original idea of not accessing/using crafting stations, my vote is that you can make a wheel of pain but not a stable/animal pen. Good luck!

This video inspired me to create a dedicated server that enforces the rules of the original Nomad Challenge. In short, it's Barbaric settings and disallows construction of any sort. Only hand-crafted placeables and placeables found in the world are allowed. If anyone is interested in playing on it, the server is aptly named: Barbaric Nomad Challenge. I do have plans to support opt-in permadeath challenge as well.

Hey Wak, on that cooking bug for the journey. The bug is that the first play thru u already had some cooked feral flesh in your bags, so when you pulled more out, it did not recognize the move. On this second play thru, when you moved the cooked feral flesh over to your inventory it counted, because you had no previous cooked feral flesh in your inv already. To fix this bug, all you needed to do was move all the cooked feral flesh from you inv to the camp fire, then move it back. What i do for that one, I place the camp fire, move the cooked haunch from the start box into the campfire then I move it back and it works every time. You may come across this bug with other journeys too, if you already have that item in your bags, simply move all of that item out of your inventory then move it back. Hope this helps! You will. I have 3 playthroughs going right now. Monday’s challenge playthrough for 7 Days to Die, Wednesday’s playthrough Soulmask, and Friday’s challenge playthrough for Conan Exiles. Next Wednesday will be the first episode for Soulmask.

You can find iron bars in chests so you can craft a regular wheel of pain. But can you use it since it's a crafting station. This playthrough would have been better on Siptah because of the thrall cages and the jailors give you tons of armor. Funcom said they be bringing those thrall cages to the exile lands and I'm guessing the jailors as well.

Nomad rules? The fun of such challenges is to test your knowledge of what things the game has available, to the point of playing in a new way. Maxing encumbrance and carrying a regular base around with you defeats the fun. I had a blast challenging myself to only placing down hand-crafted or looted structures: pirate tents, bedrolls, campfires, purchased followers.

I would say as long as you don't build a base go ahead and build and use crafting stations too. You just need to end each episode with only what you can carry. It's not like real world nomads don't make stuff. The Mongols were primarily nomadic and they did some stuff.

Suggested purist rules for Nomad Hardcore: No buildings, no crafting stations, and (on official, no sheltering in player structures, no accepting gifts, no other player transportation, no buying thralls from player taverns, no using their dancers, just ones in world). For streaming, I think 3 lives is good. (Once you have a building, you are not a nomad. And yes, a horse pen and a wheel are crafting stations.)

I would disagree about not using dancers. They have AOE buff. Free for anyone near enough.

Yes, as long as it's on yourself, and the hammer is on yourself and you find the resources in the world. I think you can't create resources other than in your pockets, you have to find them; except meat and the fire. Glad you are doing another Conan Challenge. I agree, the rules are the rules, even when you get trapped into a corner and literally pushed into the mesh, it happens more than we like. It is fun to see you push the limits of the game, it make it fun to see what's possible as we progress in our own experience. I am glad you have the 3 lives this time. When I run an agility build on Conan, I always check if those punching claws spawned on that bench by the den. So very helpful.

3 lives eh? Down But Not Out!! Lets go!! My Nomadic rules since 2021 ( only craft hand craftables. No stations/benches) Lemurian Armor is Agi and is very good till you get cimmerian armor.

I know when SesimieStreetfighter first issued the nomad challenge, the only placeables allowed were things you picked up from chests.

Glad to see you giving it a second go! Three lives probably makes a lot more sense given the way Conan is sometimes. I honestly wish they would work out some better stealth play in the game, it's been kinda my biggest gripe. Stealth Archer FTW! In everything! Oh, and don't forget to check the chest under Black Galleon (you can climb up from under and not fight) and in front of the Switch Door for a chance at a Reinforced Steel Truncheon/Legendary(non 60) daggers!

Throwing down a wheel of friendship (moreso a stable) is counter intuitive to the nomad principle. That said, it is your playthrough, so you set the rules. My opinion on it is that it changes nomad to 'easy' level. If I remember correctly the NPCs in the jungle no longer drop Lumerian armor. As always, fun vid. Looking forward to the series. May your journey be successful without needing your jank buffer.

There is a cave between the desert area and the jungle where the Followers of Sobec are found. Their white lizard armor is quite good.

The nearby cave with outcasts and sulfer often the guys in their drop iron weapons. thats where i go on speed runs to level 60. also they drop clothes.

The Lemurian armor gives strength weapon damage and the witch queen set gives confusion and follower damage increase.

Having "nomad" on a PVP server, I would make temp benches to make the items I need to survive and PVP. Then I would tear it all down and store it in a cache. I think the point of nomading is not having a base. You are making campfires to cook food. What's the difference if you make a bench to craft an item you need?

Considering the state that Conan Exiles has always been in, as it likely exceeded Funcom's expectations, I'm not sure how to feel if they were too remake/rerelease Conan Exiles, like Ark Evolved became Ark Ascended.

Nomads are not homeless irl they are just mobile. Maybe craft everything as long as it can carried/picked up and moved to another location.

This would have been an easier series to do after the update with Funcom adding thrall cages to Exiled Lands you wouldnt have to worry about placing any wheels

IMO if you are playing a semi realistic nomad scenario, you would be able to build things with your hands, the game just uses a hammer in place of your hands..Shelter and bed would be a priority in that situation (irl).. Im thinking yeah, if you can find and collect things and build with your hands and the things you collected, that is a realistic scenario..

As much as I want you to succeed, hannumans grotto might have to be your main way of getting a follower imo. wheel seems like a luxury that might be beyond you, but then again if you can find enough materials in the wild that might be a good trade?

I really like playing conan exiles its one of the best survival games but what really destorys the expierence are those crashes i dont know if someone else is fighting with this issue but for me its crashing so often thats especially when im about to get some thralls or in dungeon it happens more often does someone expierence the same problem and have some solution for that?

I have had issues with the quick click transfer. I've found it is temporary. For some reason the trick doesn't work sometimes.

can't remember if you can get the entire thing as a drop, i'd say what ever you get as a drop you can use, even if its a bench to craft with. exceptions for wheel of pain is allowed if you ask me, there is absolute no other way to get thralls on normal map? or is there, can't remember.

for thralls right now they brought the headhunter event back, so he can knock out sorcerers and drag them to the cages at the caravans and get 50 obolus each, 4 times to get 200 obolus and he can buy a good named thrall, or alternately he could head to buccaneer bay dive for gold in the chests there and should get enough to buy several from a merchant in flotsam, they are usually just tier 2 but can be tier 3, tho ive tried buying a fighter before and instead got a named taskmaster, only once out of the many times ive tried. but i would say one or the other, either use the caravans and no wheel or allow for the wheel but no caravan purchases.

Just kidding, I can usually get to level 60 on normal playthroughs by being extra careful, (which takes quite a while so not good for you tube) but I have never tried a nomad challenge. I am keen to try, what are all of the rules for it? I know about no building and only crafting your inventory, are there any more?
