I call it rebooting- when things get to much for me ,thats when i go quiet, i don't talk to anyone, i'll break down and cry and then i'll either listening to a podcasts, watch old movies or a drama ,color or read a book all the time under a soft blanket. Then in a few days i'll start to talk to my friends again

Thanks for talking about your grief.. my husband is def. in the shut down mode while processing the grief of unexpectedly losing his mother a week after Naomi was born. Since his dad is in hospice there is a lot to be done and he is power of attorney and also in charge of his medical care.. so I am trying to walk alongside him and help him knock off some of his tasks while still giving him space to grieve.. It is just such a weird time because we are also celebrating Naomi's birth on top of it all. Yay for good books that you can binge through in one day!
@BooksAndJams7 ай бұрын
I can imagine there are just a lot of emotions running around your husbands mind and heart. That mix of joy and sadness can be tough to navigate. Sounds like you're doing a great job being a support for him even in those times he just needs to shut down. He may not even be consciously deciding to do it. It's just what his mind and body need. Keep doing what you're doing and lifting him up in prayer. I'm so thankful to have God as a source of peace in all of it.
@vanillahearts627 ай бұрын
When major life things happen, such as losing someone, you'd have to be a robot to not get sad or depressed about it. I shut down too. I find having a bath and putting my head under the water helps. In time you will bounce back. However, you are way more active and productive than I expected. I'm at this weird age where I've experienced death so many times, they are now hitting with the same impact. I lost two cats in the last 6 months (old, kidney disease and brain cancer) but it hit me just as hard as a family member or friend. So, you do you, and don't feel bad for blobbing out and shutting down here or there!

Congrats on 10k! 🎉 So amazing and well deserved. And I completely relate to what you said about grief. My dad passed away at the end of September and there are still days when I just have to shut off. I’m glad you were able to take time to take care of yourself in that way. ❤
@BooksAndJams7 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing about your dad, Jen. I am so sorry for your loss. I know that grief has no timeline. I just have to listen to my body and my heart and take the time that I need, trusting that God will be with me every step of the way.

Congrats on 10k!! 🎉 I echo all your thoughts on grief. Grieving is typically thought of as only emotional, but it’s 100% physically graining as well. I’m currently reading Grief is Love by Marisa Renee Lee, and I just read a part where she talks about the physical pain of grief. I felt seen. Sending hugs. ❤
@BooksAndJams7 ай бұрын
Grief being a physical thing as well as emotional wasn't a new concept, but something that was good to be reminded of. I hope to do a bit more grief reading after this group is done. I am not sure I can dive that deep into it all at the same time.

Congratulations on 10k! But also, congratulations for taking care of yourself and realizing what you need. So often we think we need to zoom through a process or follow a pattern. It isn't trus. There is no pattern of time frame for grief. 💕

Congratulations on 10k! Whoop whoop 🎉! Grat video, live that Spring is in the air for y'all! We had a nice few days, then back to 30s and 20s, burr! I've done that with clothes also. I wore a shirt, washed it that evening and ran the dryer over night. When I grabbed it from the dryer that morning it was the closest shirt, I didn't even realize or think about it. There's times where it just hits that my mom is gone. I don't think I've felt bad for laughing, but my kids still do, especially my son. I need to figure how to handle my dads though. All I picture is me breaking. I mean right now writing that, my eyes teared up. He means the world to me! It broke my heart when he said he wished I didn't have to go back home. He's who I am! Hugs girly!

Yeah, one thing we have been talking about in Grief Share is that there is no "getting over" the loss of someone, but we will get through it. That loss becomes a part of us, but the pain of it won't always be as strong as in the beginning. It's been 25 or so years since losing my dad and that sadness still definitely comes around now and then. I'm glad to talk about it because it's so universal and yet something we don't all talk about that often. Thanks for sharing a glimpse of your story.
