As a hobbiest fursuit maker, YES. A friend of mine fell down the stairs in her suit and was unharmed due to the SHEER VOLUME of high density foam she was wearing. I've been hit in the head by drunk assholes and been fine. I'd never thought of it as armor, but it is surprisingly rare to hear of someone being seriously injured from a fall in a suit.

Queer people make up the majority of the furry fandom and by that time, homophobia was just starting to become socially unacceptable. The owners of the site SomethingAwful, which was one of the major progenitors of furry hate at the time, have even gone on record saying as such. I remember people complaining the fandom was "too gay" as late as 2014. Not to say that anyone who doesn't like them _now_ is saying they hate queer folk, because the sentiment has been around a long time and anyone not in the know will take such statements at face value. But if you do, you may want to look into why you feel that way and where you started picking up on it. If there's something I really love about this community its that I get to see all these little talents bloom that they either didn't had the chance to before, or thought they didn't have. Its a byproduct of the self-expression part. You get to show more about yourself compared to, say, applying for jobs where you only have an hour tops to really get into the grit of things.

Honestly the most interesting thing i’ve seen a furry do, is an implied 4v1 with a bat. I was around 9 and i don’t remember much, however it was a black and grey dragon head, with glasses and a leather jacket, ppl were shouting and he had a metal bat. Before i could see any actual fight the traffic started moving like your parents forcing you to come eat dinner when you finally get that one cartoon episode you wanted, i wonder where he is now! (This was in east suffolk btw)
