With ADHD you have a ton of problems remembering tasks, but are great at remembering things like movie scenes, book sentences etc. Those are different parts of the brain that keep those memories, just like people with aging dementia usually have short term memory issues long before the long term memories are affected.

To be fair, someone didn’t make 7 videos calling you a racist and ruining what you tried to fix because you didn’t eat. I also have ADHD, and not checking my email is something I’m incredibly guilty of. I’ve gone weeks without checking it causing me to turn in assignments late. Especially with everything that was going on with her and the controversy I wouldn’t be surprised if she missed her emails for a month. I think the other person over reacted, and because onlyjayus clearly has anger issues I could totally see this as something that someone who can’t properly manage their anger would do. Because you don’t try to fix this with anger issues, you try to make yourself feel better. And let’s not forget the other person did this same exact thing, 7 times, not because she was called a racist or had what reputation she was trying to fix get destroyed, because she didn’t respond to her emails.

If i do something i shouldnt because of it, i own up to it, i dont act like the other person is a bad person for being upset with me. Obviously i expect some understanding, but still. Also in this case, there’s a very high chance jayus was just trying to pull a fast one, considering she showed no sincere remorse for what she said. And even if she did intend to collab, it was her responsibility to follow through, and not crash out when the other person called them racist (something they are right to assume given previous evidence), for failing to do so.

It'd be a 100% more cool, if she was creative enough to create her own scripts. Like it's one thing to read an article, get info from it, and use it in a video (in your own words obviously). A completely different thing to steal someone's article, find the info interest then use it as a script word for word and claim it as your own.

As someone who has possible ADHD(?), I get anxious everyday thinking if I really forget something. I lose focus most of the time to the point that it made people think I'm dumb for forgetting stuff easily. I can't even solve a math equation using my brain coz I get distracted and forget easily, losing count. I had to use fingers. I'm also super hyper. Very hyper. It also caused me to have problems with socializing with my peers. Having this type of thing makes me hate myself. Even though I forget easily, especially with plans. I always find ways to solve it. Having this type of stuff isn't an excuse.

as a neurodivergent person myself (specifically im autistic, but i also come from a lineage of people with adhd), my issue with that situation was less of her using adhd as an excuse, but rather her not clarifying her disorder to her collaborators AND also not taking accountability for her actions . . . i leave messages on read all the time myself, and i can confirm that its quite hard to always remember to respond to things on time since my mind always had a bunch of thoughts going on at once. but i still try my best to respond when i can and actually *apologize* and properly explain when any sort of issue happens … not record myself crying and screaming as a sour attempt at accountability. even just seeing that few-second clip gave me SO much second hand embarrassment i had to pause the video. its crazy

I think the thing about dark humour is this, yes some people engage in dark humour about their situation (disabilities, trauma, gender, sexuality, race) and this almost all people would find it ok (though some may ask not to have it around them). But when it comes from outside the situation its harder, because yes some people might feel "these are jokes I make so its fine" but some might be feeling "I've heard these jokes before to belittle me". When its dark humour coming from within the situation we can be more sure that the empathy and understanding is there, that there is no ill intent. But when its outside the situation how can we know they understand,? or even worse if they mean it in caring way at all? Not exactly dark humour I remember frequently joking around that "everyone was a little autistic" and I didn't think much of it until I tried to tell a friend I was autistic and she said it to me as a way of telling me I was wrong. I remember being so offput and upset because I didn't know why it bothered me until years later she actually apologised, she'd been studying psychology and remembered the conversation. When your existing in the situation, the belittling humour is a way to downplay things, make bad or hard things a joke, but from those outside the situation it makes our problems small without a true understanding of how big they are.

I think another big Problem with OnlyJayus was the group of tiktoker friends she was in, they were pretty controversial as a whole and had a multiple dramatic situations with one another, falling out, break ups, ect. As a person with ADHD, it pains me when she goes back on promises she made which SHE was responsible for fulfilling, and then weaponises her ADHD to try and attack the other person for it rather than own up to her mistake and explain her ADHD made her forget. Most people with ADHD do their utmost to make sure they hold up their commitments despite the difficulty in doing so, and the overwhelming majority are definitely not so entitled as to turn around and scream at another person when they neglect their commitments. Shame on her.

Therapist here, felt the need to play the devil's advocate. People who are anxious and scared of repercussions (and apologizing) can come off as anxious rather than "remorseful". We tend to have extreme fear when being outed from a group since we are social creatures. I don't think she's awesome or anything don't even know who she is... but ... She seemed wildly unprepared to handle being a public person, and instead of getting support she continued in a crippling circle of denial. Idk this person at all, but I do want to address Charlie's cmmt bc I completely disagree that it's a failure to make the effort to educate yourself on wrong learned behavior and thought-patterns. Ppl aren't perfect or inherently all-knowing, and sometimes, we need to look outside ourselves to check different perspectives to see what caused us to have done wrong and if that cause may have affected other aspects of our lives that we weren't aware of. Even if we think the person is faking or we don't want to forgive them, I still think we should be encouraging efforts in educating oneself to be and do better.
