I am Thai and a big fan of you. I can confirm that this pack isn't 100% Thailand. I feel that it is just 30% Thai in overall because most of the objects I don't recognize them as Thai especailly the clothes. I don't personally wear those and I don't know anyone who wear those except expats in Kaosan Road or Phuket. The town looks Southern Thailand to me (if it looks Thai at all) which is heavily influenced by Malay/Indo culture. And the name "Tomarang" doesn't sound Thai to me. I can't think of a similar word in Thai at all. But there are some Thai iconic objects such as the "Tuk Tuk" motorbike, food carts, and spirit house. Other than that I cannot claim that this pack is Thai. Don't get me wrong, I am not disappointed that it'sn't fully Thai. The developer never said that it's going to be Thai. And I am glad that it covers Southeast Asia to represent many countries in this region

Your sim can starve to death because they're haunted by a terrifying curse, can be killed by a phantom hand coming out of a mirror, and now get infected with mold (which many children playing will have encountered in their own homes) and die horribly. We're well past the point of saying the lack of burglars is because it's "too scary". IDK how it'd be any different from Vlad dropping in to eat your sim in the night, but I wouldn't be surprised if true random events (that aren't just phone calls and/or rabbit holes with a pop-up) take too much resource to get them to work right with the game getting as huge as it is

Like the Home Chef Hustle pack would have made sense if they did it in tandem with Dine-Out, but they HAVE to make money. I'm just so tired of paying so much for a mediocre product.

I hate how it’s always, “Wow, this world is so pretty.” WHEN am I going to go out and look at the world? WHEN? _There is nothing to do in the world._ Ooo, the night market is cool. But it’s just that one section…one night. Tiger sanctuary? What tiger? You mean rabbit hole? A mystery cave? Rightfully a rabbit hole, but it’s tiny and there’s nothing of note around it. And why are there no more apartments or houses? The bb stuff is so nice. One apartment in each neighborhood to move in and one house? Are you _serious?_ *For FORTY DOLLARS???* The spirit house is really nice, but they don’t explain anything about the culture they drew inspiration from……again. It would be great if it worked with the paranormal pack since irl, the spirit house is basically used to attract kind spirits with offerings like fruit and desserts and it keeps away the more malicious spirits. Or even just random, base game ghosts since she kept getting random ghosts spawning in. Would have been cool. They even butchered one of the dishes. You know, an actual real life dish that you could google to look at and get ingredients for. Or ask the person they worked on this pack with _for_ accurate cultural representation. They turned it into lie a porridge looking dish? It’s called Nasi Lemak and it’s beans, rice cooked in coconut milk, boiled eggs, chili paste, fried chicken or fish. And it’s a _national dish of Malaysia._ But like I said, in the game, it looks like a nasty bowl of rice porridge made for babies. How is that nice cultural representation? It’s not in Asian culture to really complain, but I’ve seen a number of Asian simmers complaining about this, one of them being Matinee whose video I saw that drew my attention to this issue since I didn’t know Nasi Lemak was even in the game

5:58 Revelation..... Sims aren't programed to be up at night, so that's why the night market is so empty, plus the entirety of Sims 4 does not have overnight jobs. I would've thought they would add an night shift job and have the sims have varied sleep schedules.

Honestly, I just miss the random crazy stuff that used to happen in the old Sims games. Like I get it that not everything can be playable, especially jobs. But why even add a tiger sanctuary if it's all rabbit holes and hypothetical stuff? At least let there be a random chance that a tiger breaks free and mauls my sim, leaving them either pissed off or scared for the rest of the day. Maybe weirdly happy about how cute the tiger is if they have the erratic trait. That said, FGG always provides the chaos I wish was actually programmed into the games, and I'm so here for it

The tiger sanctuary's probably them virtue signaling as usual. To say "they care about saving wild tigers" while still being lazy and making rabbit holes in a pack they charge people $40+ to buy.... We could have seen actual tigers in the game, wild or captive in some sort of sanctuary, but no they'd rather make us pretend it's there while "bringing attention".

..... I find it hard to be impressed with them adding different places in the world when they all feel the same. The least they could do is change the lighting for each world. Like for example, say they make a New Mexico town, we associate New Mexico with hues of browns, oranges, and yellows. The place would be hot, dry, and have a warm hue in the atmosphere but they'd make the place in the sims 4 look overly green with brilliant blue skies 🙄I'm over it, tired of this game feeling limiting.

Besides the aura of the place looking familiar to every other zone in the sims 4, the townies invading from other towns takes away from the southeastern Asia aesthetics and besides that too they make the place feel no different from the other towns, it's all the same gameplay and stuff only with a new gimmicky thing separating that town from the others, but still not really. It always ends up being a small suburban area with characters that don't make sense for those areas forcing their way in from other places to interact with you, the place don't have unique grasses, skies, or hues, and it feels no different than an American town, or at least a sims 4 American town, typically somewhere in California......

@@winter4224 I don't even feel like pirating it, besides it being a busted game with more glitches than i can count my eyebrow hairs, but i HATE that the townies invade other worlds, everywhere in the game looks the same as any other, the characters have nothing but overly bright and colorful furniture and clothes keeping people like me who like playing with multiple styles and aesthetics from having much options, but also, there's no damn create a world! I want to make my own custom towns. I can make a better Thailand than them if i wanted to! I personally want to make my own suburban cozy neighborhood, old money Viniard town in the hills, a cursed isolated Romanian mountain village, and a GTA style southern LA city town and anything else i can think of but those are my main 4 i already have been wanting to make. I don't care about their sh*tty multiple suburban California based towns and others that feel and look like them.

The Southeastern Asian aspect should be in a separate Game Pack DEDICATED for it. They could've made functional Temples and Night Markets as new lot types, so people could build their own as well. It could've be in Tomorang, but make it a half tourist world (once tourism is one of the biggest economic activities in Southeast Asia) and a half residential world like Mount Komorebi so people could actually live there. Tie the "tourist" aspect with a new "Tourist Guide" career and make your Sim show places of interest in the world for Tourists, this could even work in other worlds, imagine if your Tourist Guide sim could take people for a walk on Willow Creek's museum? And make the townies of the pack work as tourist guides for the new world as well. It would add value for players who are not southeast asian on top of the representation. And a Game Pack focused solely on Renting and Landlording, you know? Make the tenant system more meaningful, make more lot challenges and actually make tenants and landlords face consequences for their bad actions. They could've made the Handyman career an active career where you could either choose your gigs and show up to the lots to fix their stuff or receive calls from random sims who are in an emergency. The possibilities are endless but, the way they've done it, neither aspects of the pack were well delivered.

Pool parties seem like such an odd choice for a social event to come in this. It should've been an Open House. Be a real-estate agent! It fits thematically and could tie in to people's storytelling of how landlords choose which lots to rent out. Have them go to an auction, or something! I also agree that Tomarang is blaaaaaaaaaaaand. The BUILD MODE gameplay I don't mind, I got this pack to build apartments, motels and duplexes, and it satisfied that just fine, but the Live Mode gameplay is lacking. I ended up rotating out of my landlord household after 2-3 days on a 7 day lease because NOTHING HAPPENED. The rabbit holes are dull, too. Imagine if we'd gotten Cottage Living-style animals! Orang-utans that wander around and cause mischief like unsupervised toddlers, or tigers that people could use for photo ops (just like real life tiger sanctuaries lol)

It feels like a constant cycle no one learns from. People have to stop buying these packs at release prices if they ever want improvement. Every single time a pack comes out we hear nothing but a chorus of disappointment after a promising trailer but everyone still pays the price of a full triple A game every time a pack drops instead of waiting for a sale at least, so of course EA is just going to keep doing it. Generate hype, release a product at least 4x its actual value, ignore the players’ complaints, rinse, repeat.

Like near all expansion packs in 4, they manage to give neat ideas but never make them fully fleshed out. It's why i think it's never worth buying 4s packs unless on sale. Every new feature i feel i need a mod that expands (e.g. i have a mod for more club activities they left out, a mod with more preferences, a mod for better tuned wants etc) or improves it.

I'm about to get ahold of EA and have them remove it from my account. Most times my household travels the game crashes. My game is more virgin than the average nun, no mod or cc has ever touched it. I'm not the only one having this problem, also people are having it crash when they try to move into an apartment

I had problems with my game crashing whenever I travel especially in San Myshuno ever since we got Eco Lifestyle. The crashes don’t happen as much but the For Rent as a tenant is buggy, my rent went as high as 8 Billion Simoleons.

James Turner's website shows you how to disable certain packs from your game if you want to do that instead of unistalling it completely. That way you can use it again if/when EA ever fixes it.

I think you did very fair review, I personally had fun building apartment complexes but going over 8 units was a chore. However, once I moved the families in, I had a lot of fun cycling through them, making them get to know each other, watching the other households do laundry, and interact with items around the lot. I had so much fun! I look forward to using it in my legacy saves once my sim is old enough to move out, then perhaps have them all live on the same lot again as a rental with grandpa and other relatives.

I really like this pack actually. But I’m gonna wait with getting it until they patched some of the bugs. I’m afraid the issues with this pack won’t just affect my gameplay with the pack itself, but also the rest of my saves! (like it did with you. I am a builder and enjoyed building with this pack so much. They really tried to make thr swatches compatible with a lot of other packs and I do appreciate this. So I made my beautiful three apartment lot and wanted to try it out, only to see that the daily rent for my three star rated appartments (sounds random but ok) was just a bargain of 4 Billions Simoleons. It even went up to 24 Billions later for some reason? So yeah that sucks.

I was "meh" about Horse Ranch but was so pleasantly surprised and ended up loving it. On the flip side I was so incredible excited about this one and...meh. Pretty to look at, but nothing to do in the World. I go back to San Myshuno to actually have a bit of the active street fair vibes.

The worlds being so pretty but you have no reason to go anywhere has got to be some type of crime. 😐 Everything is just for show and you rarely ever get to see it all because you just sit in your house and there is no point to leave and check out the neighborhood other than dirt piles to dig up and 1-3 food carts.

I bought this because I’m playing a legacy save I’ve been playing for years in real time and I always have the families live in separate homes on the same lot if I can but it gets so tricky because they just don’t use the rooms and houses I want them to! So I thought this was perfect I was so excited. I haven’t played with it much I’m still working on my build (it’s taking days lol) but I almost regret buying it with the amount of lag I’ve experienced so far. And for the record I play vanilla so I don’t have any mods or cc or anything bogging me down

Even with locked doors? I have base game and I built a mini apartment and just locked the doors to certain sims (if there are computers set to only one sim in the security settings) so they'd all go to their "homes" at night, but play around with each other in the "shared" areas during the day. A little tedious to set up at first, but fun! Granted, they all had to be in the same household, but with folks dying (which I didn't get to because it was just part of the story I was playing), the apartments should open up.

Ahh, okay, we must have different play styles then. I let others just autonomously care for themselves and just focused on one couple. Anything the couple needed to do with the other "tenants" I just had them do in the common area, so I didn't need to unlock doors once they were locked. Hopefully the pack will work out for your playstyle though! Your build taking awhile may help give EA time to fix the bugs before you really get into gameplay. 😉@@Patchouliprince

Is the lag during building? If so, some creators pointed out it's better to do the building with the normal "residential lot type" and after you done, change it to "residential rental" and then set the rooms to each unit

For building some Simmers have recommended building it as a Residential lot first then switching over to a Residential Rental. It makes building so much easier and smoother! Great video FGG! 🥰 I'm glad to hear an opinion that isn't super positive!

This pack truly upsets me. I wanted to buy it because I'm Southeast Asian and I really love the build-buy and CAS items. They all look so familiar and it's rare for a triple A game developers like EA to represent Southeast Asian culture. Upon knowing that a lot of the things in this pack were poorly implemented (snooping, secrets, lease payment, etc.), I feel conflicted about supporting this expansion pack :((

I've wanted a new worlds like Sulani but with more land for soooo long!! This world is so perfect. Similar/same tropical plants, new culture, and colourful houses!! That's a huge win :} The gameplay seems fairly easy and intuitive. I love the city life already, and the new animations look great!! Can't wait to buy seafood from stands and set off lanters into the sky

I love this pack but I DEFINITELY feel you on the lag. Especially when I tried it on my large multi unit lot. Sometimes bb would just stop working and I couldn’t place anything else until I restarted my pc. I had to restart because the game would freeze and I would not be able to close the program, I couldn’t even get to the task manager screen.

The sheer number of rabbit holes in this pack is frustrating along with the lag issues. The early access items were meh for me, so I'll be waiting for it to probably go on sale before I get it. One thing that disappoints me is that Tomarang has cold temperature in winter. It shouldn't, because Tomarang is based on Southeast Asia where the temperature is hot all year round (except in mountains).

I heard the lot type is what makes the game lag. Another simmer mentioned that it's best to change the lot type to residential while you're building and only use the new lot type at the end when assigning apartments. Idk how true this is since I don't have the pack.

I think if they fix the bugs like the build mode lag and the outrageously excessive rent, this might be a nice pack to pair with gameplay from other packs. I like to use the more boring but exotic locations that don't work as stand-alone games as places for my university students to study abroad in.

My biggest gripe with the sims 4 is that gameplay is simply not fun and like 80% of that is the fault of bad simulation, the rest is boring animations. If you have a feature that is an event, like the potluck or the *weddings* from my *wedding* stories and those things just DON'T work... the wth is the game even. I got bored of playing the sims 4 pretty soon after getting it and I never recovered. I come back once in a while and I have fun creating characters and making the house but the gameplay is just not captivating me anymore.

as a builder i so love this pack. I did listen to litsimsie and dont change the lot type until the end of editing a lot. But then editing later blows 😵‍💫 im chalking it up to a typical rushed unfinished sims pack. Only the finest from EA! But i do love renting and sticking townies in the other apartments. I wish/hope the more you fill the apartments and lots of the new world, that maybe if we get some holidays/events(🤞🏻) the markets will feel more full
