Between the Critic making fun of Spider-Man 3 and the recent JonTron video comparing Star Wars: Attack of the Clones to the Hindenburg crash and ISIS, you can tell these are really old videos. Opinions towards them have changed over the years. That's Rory Culkin. Macaulay was in the height of his popularly in the early to mid 90s. M.Night Shyamalan was called "The next Spielberg", during the early 00s, Macaulay was an adult by then.

I got into an argument with someone that lasted I don't know how long in the connent section of the original video. Idiot kept claiming he was part of the production if the movie saying that the dew and humidity that collects on your skin the second you step outside or walk in the grass at night during the late summer this supposedly takes place in for the corn to be so tall and still so green somehow miraculously wouldn't affect creatures supposedly so affected by water that it eats their skin away like acid. Said it was discussed during a production meeting, was never given any reasonable explanation as to such in the movie, and the idiot kept repeating he was there and it was discussed while the whole point was no real argument was given in the movie, thus q major plothole.

One theory I saw about the ending of this movie is they weren't actually aliens but demons and that the water was holy water and this is was a test to restore Mel Gibson's characters faith.

How can they be Demons if they use Spaceships? Also, how can it be holy water if they simply got it from a tap? They aren't on sacred ground or anything, they're on a farm.
@cjkalandek996 Жыл бұрын
@@HB-fq9nn In the case of the spaceships, did we actually SEE the spaceships outside of those lights in the sky? So, who knows what else they were? As for the water, remember the scene when Graham is telling his kids the stories of how they were born and in Bo's story, she didn't cry when she was born and all the nurses gasped at the mere sight of her, saying she looked like an "angel"? So, it's possible her taking a sip of the water and saying it's "contaminated" means *_she's_* the one contaminating the water; contaminating it for the aliens (or demons, in this case).
@HB-fq9nn Жыл бұрын
@@cjkalandek996 In regard to the lights, they are clearly flying saucers, not to mention that they leave crop circles that look exactly like crop circles we believe aliens would make. Also, even if the idea that the mother was making holy water simply by drinking it was correct, that’s unbelievably dumb writing, which I guess is par the course for Shyamalan. If they want us to think they’re demons, they shouldn’t try so hard to make them exactly like stereotypical aliens. Furthermore, if these are demons, then they just got beaten by Earth’s forces in just a few days. Satan’s must be slacking.

Okay, a lot of the things that NC points out in this movie that don't make sense (to him) are literally ALL explained by Chris Stuckmann in his video on _Signs._ *How come the alien can't get out of the pantry?* The alien that shows up at the very end that Merrill beats the shit out of is the one that was in the pantry, so he obviously got out. *How did the alien that got out of the pantry know how to go to Graham's house?* It's said in the movie that the crop circles are landmarks for the aliens building a map so they could coordinate their attack. So, the alien was going to the nearest crop circle to find his buddies only to find out he was left behind. *Why couldn't the aliens just bust through the windows and wooden planks?* Uh...if you look at the windows in their house in the 3rd Act, they've all been broken into. So, the wooden planks didn't hold them back forever. They just only delayed the inevitable. *Why did the aliens come to a planet that's mostly covered in the one thing that could kill them?* First of all, does EVERY alien species in science fiction have to be perfectly adaptable to our atmosphere and resources? NO. Because if that's the case, then these things would be unstoppable. Second of all, Chris Stuckmann said in his video on the movie that the problem is we're not considering the possibility that these aliens were desperate to go anywhere to find the resources they need to survive. Maybe this was a race that was on the brink of extinction and they were doing whatever they could salvage themselves. Also, if you watch the found footage scene where they watch the alien walk out of the bushes and past a corner, you can actually see it in the bushes, looking like it's trying to see if the coast is clear to make a break for it. Maybe that alien saw some of its own kind perish due to being on Earth too long and succumbing to the moisture of our atmosphere. After all, that military guy talking to Merrill says whoever or whatever they've been seeing around the neighborhood is doing something called "probing", which is a military tactic of where you send a few scouts ahead to check the layout before you make your full move. So, that alien in the found footage scene has probably been on Earth for a week at most and realizes something is wrong. Third of all, there's an interesting theory out there that the aliens are actually NOT aliens, but demons. And the reason they seem to really gravitate towards Graham and his home is because of his lost faith, thus making him more vulnerable to a spiritual attack. And it's not just the water that was deadly to that one alien, but it was the water Bo left all around the house and Graham tells Bo the story of how she was born and the nurses and doctors all said she looked like an "angel". Plus, water is seen the Spirit of God in the Bible, so if the aliens are demons, THAT'S why the water could kill them. *Why did God have to kill a reverend's wife so he can lose his faith all just so he can regain it again but with his wife still dead?* The Bible literally says that the Lord gives and the Lord takes and everything happens for a reason. This review is one of the reasons I started hating Nostalgia Critic.
@HB-fq9nn Жыл бұрын
These aliens are still very inept if planks of wood could hold them at bay for hours. Also, that's a lot of hoops to jump through to justify the reasoning behind the aliens trying to take over the planet covered in their main weakness. Plus, since when do Demons use Spaceships? Not even Warhammer 40K gives its Daemons spaceships. Despite that being a bible message, it still makes for a bad character arc, since the turmoil is caused by God, and by the end they end up back to where they were before God made them suffer. He essentially learns nothing, because if God didn't kill his wife, then he would still believe that everything happens for a reason. God broke a man just so he could teach him a message he already knew (since he's a Reverend). Just because it's in the Bible, doesn't mean it makes for a good character arc. Also, I think you take this film way too seriously if you start hating a person simply because he has a different opinion about a movie.

The movie still blows and just another reason Shaymalan fails. I mean seriously would it kill him just once to let his movie characters act like actual people instead of emotionless robots?
