As someone who has zero knowledge of Desi culture, I am appreciative of having definition of things appearing the corner so I can follow along and learn some of the culture refences. I do not know how I stumbled across this, but I am enjoying this series thus far.
@marys403811 ай бұрын
Same! It's the perfect balance of explaining cultural aspects to outsiders, while also not stopping the show in its tracks to explain something that other members of the audience will know automatically
@Peter_Cordes11 ай бұрын
100%. That makes a huge difference; instead of feeling temporarily lost and like I'm missing something, I feel welcomed into the fun they're having playing with a second language. And yeah without them having to pause to verbally explain anything which could make it feel a bit like a Hindi lesson or something, and worse for people who didn't need the reminder. Whoever came up with that idea for post-production graphics nailed it. (And so did the people who did the graphics; I notice they didn't over-do it when the conversation organically did define a term, which happened some this episode when talking to Luis and his character.) As well as bringing in some players that have been on Dimension 20 seasons, they're bringing in some of that level of production quality, and using it to good effect.

To be honest I’ve never felt fully connected to the “traditional” Desi experience or my Desi-ness. A big part of that was the fact that my family is in the Caribbean part of the Diaspora, Muslims in faith, and then on top of that they moved to America. So they never categorized themselves as “Indians” or “Desi” but as Caribbeans. I bring this up to say: 1. Not only does this make Desi-quest super informative for me -a Desi person- 2. it makes Ash the most relatable character for me 😂 I too am confused but trying 3. Last episodes “being sad is bad” truly made me realize that no matter where you are generationally or in the diaspora, Desi’s holding in EVERY SINGLE NEGATIVE EMOTION is a staple of the culture. 4. I loved seeing Luis! I grew up up in SoCal surrounded by Latinos of all types. Genuinely being around Latinos feels like a second home to me and I love that I get to see him (and others potentially) join the table ❤

I am so exited for Episode 2!! I know it takes a lot of work and ressources, but I would absolutely love it if you were able to make subtitles, because for me as a partly deaf person it helps a lot with understanding what everyone is saying ♥

We're on it. We've been trying to find an economical solution and are hoping to have subtitles on this episode (and episode 1) shortly. Please bear with us, but this is a top priority for us.

We've added subtitles for ep 2. Still going through and cleaning them up, which will take time, but for the most part its much better than the captions. Please drop a comment after you've had a chance to check it out for yourself and let us know if you have any additional feedback. We'll start working on uploading ep 1 as well and will try to have both episodes cleaned up before episode 3 drops in December.

@@effinfunny Thank you so much for all of your amazing hard work! The new subtitles really do help a lot! :) I noticed on Episode 2 that the subtitles are slightly misaligned with what is being said (1-2 second delay until the subtitles show up when someone is speaking), otherwise I love them. Another brilliant episode. The story is really starting to take form as we get more of an understanding of the characters and become invested in their individual motivations. The banter remains one of my favourite things, especially how it blurs between characters and irl. The production level is top tier, from the sound effects added in post to the beautiful character art & set. Can’t wait to see the map/scenery/minis glimpsed in the preview. Now let’s talk about Mr Carazo. First I really liked how you bring up to speed at the beginning before picking up where we left off. As for Luis himself… *swoon*… He flawlessly integrated into the table and his RPing was off the charts. He truly says some of the most profound things. Once again can’t wait for the next episode!
