Thank you for sharing. The part where you had to sell some of your collection to fund school and tools just about broke my heart. My father in law really loved the Burgess folding shotgun. He sold his collection to buy his ranch and move from the Los Angeles area to the central valley of California. He spent the rest of his life trying to find his old guns and rebuilding his collection. I like the model 94 winchester. He gave me one that came in a lot that he purchased. You have a beautiful collection and again, thank you for sharing.

They can grow on a person. It was the great hunting calibers that started my interest in '95's.
@CameronMcCreary Жыл бұрын
I can see Mark why you have all those beautiful 1895 Winchesters. I find that Winchester put beautiful figured walnut stocks on the '95s. I have NEVER seen an extension attached to the butt of a rifle. Usually one makes a new one. Thanks Mark for showing us all those beautiful '95 Winchesters.
@thecinnabar8442 Жыл бұрын
Sadly, I've come across quite a few and it just ruins a stock. If this one had originally been a shotgun style butt, I might have been able to save it, but the extension fills the area on the top of the stock where the top of the crescent buttplate was. It'd be almost impossible to hide that.

What a great video!! You should do a video on how to manage the funds you acquire!! Man I had a great paying job for almost 30 yrs and I could never come close to enjoy the things you do. Just your ranch alone is amazing not to mention your firearms!! Granted wealth is not a key to joy or happiness, but it is a tool to help the people around and in your life. Rich or poor we all have something to give to help those in need. Would love to see more of your collection and how you acquired the ranch…. Thank you for sharing such wonderful pieces with us!! It’s as close as most of us will get to see in our lifetime.
@thecinnabar8442 Жыл бұрын
Thanks, but you're making an assumption about our income level that's way off the mark. If you had a "great paying job for almost 30 years", you almost certainly have far more income than we've ever had. We've worked for decades taking a very small income (sometimes as little as $500/month for long periods) in order to work ourselves completely out of debt. Our secret isn't high income but living very fugally and having few expenses. Yes, the ranch is worth a lot of money now and is completely paid off, but we'd only see that money if we were to sell it. It provides a very modest income, well below what it would cost to just "get by" in more urban environs.

Amazing 95's....I've only got 2. A beater second model in 38-72 and a 405 takedown with sling eyes and a climbing Lyman. Love them both, but the 405 is my prized possession. It has most of its original blue as far as I can tell and the only thing I believe was done to it was the Lyman was added at some point. It may also have what Madis refered to as extra walnut as the wood has some figure. Thanks for showing off your collection. It's impressive 😎

Thanks for sharing I enjoyed the tour of your 1895 collection and look forward to my favorite the model 1873. I have a model 1873 mfg in 1887 and a model 94 from 1939. Nothing special about them except I am the current caretaker. You know of all the rare physical characteristics in your collection the rarest of them all and greatest value to me would be the full provenance of a rifle. Whenever I handle mine I wonder who the original and subsequent owners were and a little of their history. If only these could talk
