That little basket with the bow is just adorable! What a great gift idea, and they even get a basket to keep them in.

Clever idea on the rounded edges to reduce sewing tails in! Love it. I have my Mom’s serger that was in a box and was never used. My goal is to use it at least once this month!

I love this project! I don’t have a Serger. I may try it by using a zig zag stitch on my machine.

I love your videos!! They're to the point, accurate and really help me as a beginner. Also, your presentation is spot on. Some videos, people ramble on and it's like...just get to the point already, I NEVER have that with your videos. You make me laugh and bring joy to my sewing experience! I appreciate you 🙏🏼

When I saw the leftover strip, my first thought was: sew make up removal "pads" with the leftover strips.😃 Scrunchies are a good idea, too. 👍

This is an awesome gift idea for Christmas! I hope that we will be seeing more gifting ideas for those quick little Christmas gifts or hostess gifts! We just found out that my husband has to have a complete shoulder replacement surgery on Dec 2. So, my time for sewing this year will be even more limited than it usually is but I still want to gift something handmade! I’m making a list and checking it twice but I know I will be making some of these for gifts! Thank you for always inspiring me!❤

I am going to make some of these for my toddler. He always drops the hand towel in the bathroom on the floor after he dries his hands. I don’t have a surger but my 4 year old won’t mind if it’s not fancy. Lol! I will place them in a basket on the sink and make a bag for the wet ones. THANK YOU! Another Gold Star today! ⭐️ You’re the best.

You can create a casing using your serger by folding the fabric back right sides together about 2 inches (from the top) then fold the fabric back up 1 inch so that it meets the top again. Then serge the 3 layers together and fold the serged edge to the inside. You can do this before or after you sew the side seam. Then open a hole by cutting or using a seam ripper or installing a grommet ahead of time. I think a beginner can do this.

What a great idea, thank you! I'm planning to make several as washclothes for Operation Christmas Child boxes I'm currently filling. I've got some fun flannel that would be perfect. The tip on how to serge a rounded corner is also super helpful, thanks! I've marked the curve first since they turn out uneven if I don't. But, I've always turned it holding the main fabric, not corner - genius move!

You can also cut down bath towels and serge the edges for nice little hand towels. Also, when my wash cloths get ragged around the edges, I serge the edges. All new!

Great tutorial! I bought some paperless paper towels from Amazon a few years back, I use them every day, but I still keep paper towels around to use for really messy messes that I don't want to put in my washer. I did get a portable bidet and made a bunch of paperless toilet paper. I still use regular paper at night because I don't want to wait for the water to get warm, Right now I'm saving up to buy a bidet toilet seat and hopefully won't need toilet paper even at night. I'll still keep a roll on hand for guests.

You could serge the edges before you wash the flannel to stop fraying then cut it off to straighten the edges.

Funny you should mention using the pinking shears - I bought 48 different fabrics to replenish my stash. After washing a few of the 1 yard pieces I thought that doing a trim might help so I trimmed one end of each one of the next batch. Taking them out of the washer I could tell which end had been trimmed - taking them out of the dryer both sides were so frayed I couldn't tell that either side was any different. I looked for any sign of the trim - no luck. Maybe my dryer is just to tough - I don't know but it didn't help me. A few of the pieces did fray less, but it must just have been the material because both ends looked the same.

I have a compromised immune system, so when family is visiting, I use paper towels to wash my hands. When it is just my husband and I, we have our own hand towels. These would be perfect! I don't have a serger, so I'll just hem mine!

I think the bag to put the used ones in should be made of mesh. Especially when they are wet after using them. That way they will dry and not get moldy if you can’t wash them right away.

25 towels for $20. on Amazon I bought these and the stitching is sloppy. I made some on my sister's serger - my first few weren't that good but I caught on after a few. I have a small bucket under the sink for my reusable towels. I use mine to cover plates in the microwave, I use the paper ones for things that I am going to throw away (spills on the floor, neighbor's dog messing in my yard etc)
