This song comes off Emotive, which was an anti-war album pertaining to Afghanistan/Iraq. Most of the album is made up of "covers", and I highlight the word "covers" because they took a number of songs from a variety of genres and re-wrote/re-worked them.....drastically. I'd highly recommend listening to the album, and then looking up the original songs and comparing because holy shit it's really something else. I'm a huge Zep fan and I agree hundred percent David, this is one of my favorite covers of all time, and this performance at Red Rocks is just awesome. Billy and Maynard are a surprisingly good harmony, love hearing them sing together. By and Down from this same show is also a must see, the acoustics in that place are so unreal. It'll get ya there!

A Perfect Circle is very creative with their covers. A very stripped down, almost smooth jazz feel to When the Levee Breaks. Even if it isn't everyones cup of tea, you can't deny how interesting it is. Its also pretty catchy with Maynard's smooth vocals and melody.

Never heard them do this song but what a rendition. His voice sounds great in this. Glad to see that they stepped it up a bit in the end. I also have loved this version since it came out... it's a great "mournful" version to me... I don't know if mournful is the right word maybe "reflective" but I agree of the 2 Maynard and company killed it. The accompanying vocal layers add so much to the song... this whole album from them is great cover songs...

I Have loved A Perfect Circle since I heard Rose from the first album, Maynards vocals are alway emotional in APC, beautifully played and sung, The Emoive album has some outstanding covers on in, all are very different from the originals but you recognised them. The few original songs were a stab at the way America has become

I'm a huge Led Zep fan David & I'm not upset at all. The Led Zep version was a cover as well of the 1929 original by Memphis Minnie & Kansas Joe McCoy about the 1927 Mississippi floods, if I'm not mistaken. The members of Led Zep will prob be the 1st to agree that it's ok to take older music and reinterpret it with a more modern take, because that's exactly what Led Zep did all the time. I loved this version too; is it better than Led Zep? not for me.....their version is still the best imho. But this is certainly up there & not what I was expecting. Pleasantly surprised ^^.

You are not mistaken. Led Zeppelin's version is also a cover as the original song is a Country Blues song from 1929 by Memphis Minnie and her husband at the time, Kansas Joe McCoy about the 1927 Great Mississippi Flood. The name of Spike Lee's documentary series about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina "When the Levees Broke" is a direct reference to Memphis Minnie's and Kansas Joe McCoy's original song.

The guitarist is Billy Howerdel, him and Maynard together are the founders of APC... prior to APC he was the guitar tech for smashing pumpkins and nine inch nails... he is also in the band Ashes Divide which he does all the studio instruments except for the drums which is session drummer Josh Freese...

I wasn’t a fan of this album when it came out. I actually like when a band is true to the original with minor exceptions like Nirvana’s cover of Man Who Sold the World and the Meat Puppets songs. I think the John Lennon cover was pretty much a hard no for me on the album.

Tool also covered No Quarter by Led Zeppelin. It's a bit more carbon copy, but it definitely has that Tool sound and feel. They definitely made it their own in their cover, though. Puscifer also has a nice cover of Bohemian Rhapsody (though the music video might be one reason why I like it), and an amazing cover of Rocket Man (recommended!).
