Happ will finish 20-25 homers, 80-85 rbi, 150-175 strikeouts, and a .255-.265 average. That's just Happ. Morel is awful. How can your dh be below .200? Swanson will have career lows across the board and 175-185 strikeouts. At the end of last year it seemed like Swanson was a self-appointed consultant for building the team. Not so much this year. Can he advise on how to dump the last 5 years of an inflated contract for a middle infielder?

I’m glad it turned out like it did in the 4th inning, but that was a really poor decision on the Orioles part for pitching to Happ, with 1st base open, 2 outs, and Christopher I should be in Iowa AAA ball Morel coming up. No way do I pitch to Happ in that situation, you’re right Sam that was the ball game.

I think Bellinger's power is sapped from the ribs thing, hes probably just been low key in pain for a while. The crack was like right up under the armpit right? Yea I could imagine how that subconsciously hurts his power. EDIT: I think the Cubs should seriously consider paying all of Bellinger's contract for the remainder of the season to get a better prospect.

I'd love to say I never gave up on this team but I cannot. That would be false and I'm trying to be more honest. I have hope again, but hope, though it may be what rebellions are built on, is fragile. This team needs to slog back up to .500 and then do some yeoman's work to solidify a decent season. The good news is that surviving bad times definitely makes a team more resilient

Because of that mindset of trading for prospects is why we are called Lovable Loosers. I am starting to think that the main team is AAA Iowa for the fandom. Its all over again. Sam you pretty sure know that no matter how many big contracts you see get rid of, it will not translate Hoyer paing for a bigger star next season. That ain’t gonna happen, mostly now after the Swnason fiasco. Lets keep feeding those minor league teams, like the Expos did once and the Marlins have always done.

The Cubs proved to themselves how much easier it is to win when playing while ahead. And you have to hit to get runs. If they quit taking strike one down the middle and a called strike 3? They have a shot. It is also easier to pitch and play defense when up 7-2 as opposed to down 3 to 2 in the 8th which is the case alot. Be aggressive and stop standing there with your bat on your shoulder. Suzuki, Swanson, Wisdom, etc. Happ is having success because he is swinging at inside pitches on the black and hitting bullets down the line or out a here. Earlier he was taking strike 3. He has learned that umps love to call you out on strike 3. The Cubs need to learn that lesson too otherwise it will be suck ville.

Taillon & Bigge 👏🏻 Happ & Busch 👏🏻 Suzuki 👏🏻 needs to step it up but has professional at bats majority of the time. Morel & Swanson are lost. On a milk carton. Especially with Morel. Morel looks horrible. He looks worse than he did when they sent him to AAA this last time. After the break, I fully expect Morel to be sent down to AAA, regardless of any prospects up or not. I haven’t seen uglier swords swings from Morel. Check swings, check? Or no. Half swings on the other side with Swanson. *GOOD GOD* I realize Swanson wasn’t a banger before but holy hell. I expected 20-25 homers a bunch of doubles and a GG.

I'd love to know what the internal discussions are involving Morel. Do they still actually think this guy is going to be part of their next core group? He seems completely lost up there this whole season with no signs of a turnaround. I don't think going back down to the minors and dominating again would do any good. If he struggles the rest of the season, I would hope they move on from him and give others a chance. What a waste.

I'm confused. Why would you get rid of a starter pitcher who is pitching well just to lighten your payroll. To me getting rid of Taillon puts us in a multi year rebuild, which we should know by now is not an easy task. A pitcher that stays healthy and makes quality starts is worth some money. Who costs more Taillon or Jordan Montgomery which everyone seemed to want.this off season. Trade Bellinger, keep Taillon.

Cubs still need to sell. They have talent MLB ready to replace. The goal should be to get their talent adjusting to MLB pitching. That helps them open up payroll for next year. Happ they should retain unless a overpay happens in a return and Happ signs it off. Then go for it. The hardest sale is Taillon. The staff has been beat up and someone will have to pick up the innings. So that deal would not happen until Brown and Assad are in the rotation. Add to it Horton would have to be pitching again. At that point you have to do that deal to give opertunity
