That's messed up. If he's laughing, that's really terrible. I have no issues apologising to someone if I genuinely feel bad. I usually apologise to at least 3 people per week. I think it's a really selfish,disrespectful, and shameful thing to laugh at someone when we've caused them pain. Actions speak louder than words. You expect a change in behaviour for the person to demonstrate corrective behaviours, more than words that may display empty actions. I feel appropriate to prefer actions over words. Apologies should always be genuine and honest. My mum always said don't apologise if you're not sorry because it's not genuine.
