Awesome interview, Bo. Ann Annie was the first modular performance I watched on KZbin and blew my mind. Thus starting my obsession with modular synthesis. While down the rabbit hole I discovered Bo. And then all these world's are colliding irl. Amazing... Just amazing.

Similar story! Stumbled upon Bo first, but Ann Annie's Debussy cover made me go down that rabbit hole :)

This is an excellent presentation. I knew nothing about Ann Annie behind the scenes and/or the philosophy behind the music. I have been enjoying the music for about a year, and I am a subscriber, but this interview adds so much to the whole experience. Thank you both.

One of my favorite things with ANN ANNIE's channel is the fact he puts the patch notes in the info. This is for when I win the lottery.

Great interview. imo you should do more, your clinical active listener background really aids the interactions.

That is really so great. 'Ve been following ann annie and bo for quite some times now. I also watch the interview by divkid and damn, this annie is great. Though, my brain thought she was a 50ish year old woman, so what a surprise to discover this young bway. Great job all of you!

The "Murphy's Law of the universe, that anything could happen." That never occurred to me. What a cool way to express it. I would've gone with Heisenberg, that it only becomes music when you listen to (observe) it.

Visuals are definetly important. When I listen to music, especially deep and atmospheric stuff, I go visual places. Often places that only exist in my mind. Very complexly deep sometimes. Something that feeds more to the emotions.

Yeah, so Ann Annie... I can relate so much with his music and art... I'm less mature in the modular world and music in general but I've had some of my journey already, and much of my philosophies line up surprisingly well! I also was kinda burned out when I got into modular, not from being a one-man band, but from making tehnical sound design-based music (especially lots of Dubstep), making every sound myself. But I did like making stuff on VST synths alot, it was my favourite part of the process. For a change in artistic direction I was looking for a more psychedelic and meditative musical standpoint, which my Neutron and VCV rack delivered like BEASTS. I feel like my creativity flourishes so much more when designing the synth itself is part of the composition. Modular is chaotic like me, I love generative music, ambient music, soothing melodies, huge spaces in minimal loneliness or lush drones of chord and melody. Although on many occasions I get more industrial-noisy, but also from an ambiental point of view. I feel I'll love Ann Annie's music a lot, and he inspires me to try out more visual stuff with my music too, starting from recording the performances. Actually I got a RGB lightbulb for that months ago, so I could play with surreal dim lighting ambiance, to accompany the blinky-blinkies from the synths and the musical ambient.

Two channels I follow have a crossover. I just watched his new video yesterday and now I see this. Also,I never seen his face and I just assumed he was a SHE (the name fooled me). He seems as chill as the music he makes.

his videos give me a sense of tranquility, i would try to replicate them but i only have a volca modular, MPK Mini and a laptop, and no succulents or houseplants so it wouldn't be the same.

it would be nice to let the person youre speaking with to finish their idea of what they are saying without interrupting and rushing over the words, i know having the chemistry to find between an interaction doesnt always happen but this feels odd to watch, like if you were not listening to one an another and connecting but instead saying the most predictable excpected basic responses and followups
