Gene is spot on. I saw a 20-something person wearing a Cheap Trick concert shirt and as CT is my favorite band, I asked her what her favorite song was she said she didn't know any and also wasn't sure what Cheap Trick was, but thought the shirt looked cool.

Yeah, they do that frequently with Nirvana shirts. Absolutely wearing the bones and vital organs of culture as jewelry in brazen shallow materialistic appropriation. Gen Z is the enemy and gravest threat to the fabric of my precious American culture.

@@thezakkuhnshow I know, but at least the boys (Cheap Trick) made some money off her.

Jay Jay French said the same thing to me. When I disagreed, he asked me, “when did the charts last include a rock song?”

A side from the filling the pockets of the producers etc. What good does it do to have a song in the charts? I mean a song can still be good even if it's not in the charts

Word salad. Band recognition does not have to apply to knowing each member. Lots of kids know who the Beatles are but can't name each member or give really much info on songs. The information age changed how people digest what they see and know. Back in the 60's and 70's, if you liked something, you had to read about it and follow it through publications. That took time and an investment in wanting to know more. Today, you can look up any band and find out about their history in five minutes. Then you move on to something else. Everything is much more digestible and obtainable than in different eras. KISS hidden in makeup in the 70's would barely last 48 hours today. It was a different time. And in terms of musical success, there are lots of stars thriving right now. And regarding his claims about KISS...well knowing who someone is and investing in them are two entirely different things. Pophouse bought a tired and burned out brand. Yes, they have been licensed allot but that was from people who were fans of the band growing up who then ran businesses. KISS has had scores of products and branded products that have flopped badly. And with the band too old to tour anymore or perform without recorded assistance, the allusion is over. Good luck merchandising something that is no longer desired... that includes their avatar show.

The death of rock and roll started when bands cared more about merch than music…like KISS

Ha! Maybe. But hard to separate kiss from rock ‘n’ roll
