That makes a lot of sense, Norm MacDonald had crippling stage fright, but I think he overcame it by the realization that he could never please everyone in the audience, so he just focused in on what he thought was funny and hoped for the best. After a while he got some positive feedback from prominent voices in the industry (Like David Letterman & Conan O'Brian) but he was always the comedian's comedian and something of an acquired taste, at least within his lifetime.

Nothing that uses an A.I. narrator and a painfully grammatically incorrect script to boot is "one of the greatest" anything. The clips of Norm do all of the work here, otherwise it's one of the worst and laziest videos of this format you could make.
@djoverkinАй бұрын
@@DarkCyberElf what ai narrator ? Are you referring to the excerpts from his audiobook ? or the bits like 3:12 ? Didn't even notice, and even so, they're such a small part of the overall video. It's not that easy to make a video like this, his editing timeline was packed with radio clips and videos, it isn't a small feat. And the way the clips were arranged was honestly one of the best, and it included many stuff I've never seen even though I consume Norm content for close to a decade now. So, even if it uses AI voice, just because he can't afford a proper mic / doesn't like his voice / doesn't grasp spoken English well enough, this doesn't make the final work any less valuable.

He wasnt afraid to talk about his gambling addiction, and even do skits about it and joke about it, and this made us relate and love him even more. His old man jokes from the turn of the 20th century were so brave. I think we would all be much better people if we could just live our lives using the formula that Norm used - just be yourself, and screw what other people think about you, say about you, and judge you. I think what keeps most of the world so in awe of Norm is that I think he is a good representation of classic rural Canadian humor, which is not very well known outside of Canada. It is cold, wet and miserable, and we aren't burdened with the overly enthusiastic American exceptionalism/ positivity complex (well...at least East of Ontario). People are just funny in a very honest, old fashioned, self deprecating, dry but generally good natured way. Not saying every Canadian is as funny as Norm! But I think anyone living in these windswept wastes knows one or two fellas that remind you of Norm. It is not surprising at all that we was never accepted by broad audiences. Norm is the alpha and omega of Comedy
@HaywoodJaBlome-it3xs3 күн бұрын
Norm always had a place in comedy, just not in the mainstream. Norm will live on in my heart. He had so many bits that I still think about from time to time. Just a funny, funny man and he didnt have to be vulgar to get laughs. His Moth joke lives in my head rent free 😂
